Columbus City Schools is Hiring a Windsor Site-Based Coordinator (Windsor) Near Columbus, OH

The Site-Based Coordinator facilitates and provides leadership relatedto the coordination of family interventions, programs and services at WindsorSTEM relative to academic learning, youth development/school climate,parent/family engagement and support, increase two way communication withfamilies, health and social services, and community partnerships/programs. The Coordinator works under the day-to-daydirection of the School Principal to coordinate, align, and enhance school- andcommunity-resources to support student learning and well-being, familystability, school success, and a strong neighborhood. Key tasks include:

1.Support the School Community Improvement Process

a.Foster an expanded school improvement planningprocess that builds upon and strengthens the annual school improvement planningprocess in place at Windsor

i.Participates as a member of the BuildingLeadership Team (BLT) from the lens of improving two-way communication withWindsor families.

ii.Participate on Windsor Youth Collaborative andassist with integrating priorities and strengthening the school and communitysupports.

iii.Participate on the Linden Collaborative AdvisoryCouncil

iv.Connect overall efforts with the Linden Plan andrelated neighborhood development priorities

b.Lead needs and resources assessments to identifyand respond to top priority family needs

i.Seek input from teachers, school staff,students, parents/caregivers, and community members to determine needs ofstudents and families.

ii.Examine data (i.e., behavioral data, SEL data,census data, etc.) to drive family interventions, school-wide planning, andresource development.

iii.Map all programs/services by the 5 pathways andthree tiers to explore resource gaps and needs

c.Cultivate partnerships, build relationships, anddevelop resources to address top priority needs in the school community.

2.Coordinate School-Community Partnerships

a.Build and strengthen partnerships with others inthe community (i.e., faith-based community, members of the Windsor YouthCollaborative, etc.) to respond to top priority needs

b.Work to align and integrate programs andservices offered by individual partners for kids and families through weeklymeetings with partners in building.

i.Connect programs/services provided by partnersto classrooms (and teachers)

c.Facilitate communication and build relationshipsamong community partners, key stakeholders, and volunteers; and represent theschool to civic and community groups

i.Create quarterly newsletter

d.Provide administrative structure and support toimprove out-of-school time offerings for Windsor children and families

i.Foster improvements for current out-of-schooltime programming (i.e., St. Stephen’s aftercare program, etc.)

ii.Provide oversight to new aftercare programmingoffered with new grant dollars from United Way investments.

iii.Lead overall efforts to engage more students andfamilies in in school and out-of-school time programming

3.Strengthen Parent/Caregiver and FamilyEngagement Strategies

a.Lead comprehensive parent/caregiver/familyengagement comprehensive strategy for Windsor

b.Manage Family Resource Center

i.Help create and maintain Family Resource Centerat Windsor which provides resources and referral/linkage to parents/caregivers

1.Engage parents/caregivers in the Family ResourceCenter

2.Oversee parent/caregiver incentive system forresource distribution.

3.Develop partnerships for continued donations andnew programming/services.

ii.Respond to emergency referrals for resources fromschool staff and community providers.

iii.Link families to appropriate community agenciesand resources.

c.Coordinate Parent/Caregiver and FamilyEngagement Activities with Others

i.Collaborate with Cathy Tolbert (CCS/WindsorFamily Consultant)

1.Coordinate and support family engagement eventsin the school community.

2.Support creation and distribution of parent/caregivercommunications.

ii.Assist School Social Worker with externaloutreach to parents/caregivers (e.g. home visits) and provide casemanagement/coordination supports to families as needed.

iii.Strengthen the engagement of volunteers to support students and families

 KILLS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to work with educators and non-educators of different academic backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with parents and outside agencies
  • Ability to provide a supportive role to school leadership and succeed in a team environment
  • Ability to motivate and engage staff and families in innovative ideas and practices
  • Ability to complete projects in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate flexible and creative approaches and management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Platforms
  • Ability to engage and communicate with stakeholders regarding effective interventions for mitigating the impact of trauma and building student resilience.
