Columbus City Schools is Hiring a Special Needs Preschool Coordinator Near Columbus, OH

The Special Needs Preschool Coordinator will provide academic and behavioral intervention services to early childhood special education students, teachers, related services staff, general education teachers, principals, parents, and community agencies in order to improve academic achievement for students with disabilities in the Columbus City Schools. The Special Needs Preschool Coordinator is responsible for the following types and range of services for all CCS classroom units, students served by itinerant staff, and students served at the Franklin County Board of DD and G. Tyree Learning Center.

The types and range of services provided by the SNP Coordinator will include:

Providing information to school personnel regarding state and federal laws and regulations, other topics essential for the delivery of services to students with disabilities and appropriate supplemental instructional materials and equipment for student with disabilities;
Providing consultation and assistance, through observation of students with disabilities and students suspected of having a disability, and professional discussion, to personnel to assure continuity among evaluation data, the IEP, and classroom instruction;
Providing in-services to special education personnel, parents, aides, administrators, and general education personnel regarding the education of student with disabilities;
Providing information to school personnel regarding the needs of students with disabilities;
Modeling appropriate teaching strategies and providing consultation to facilitate the provision of appropriate education in the classroom;
Assisting with the development of instructional and/or behavioral strategies to enable the student with a disability to improve his or her academic achievement;
Participate as a member of the screening to determine suspected disability;
Participate as a member of the Multi-factored Evaluation Team to determine the eligibility of a child with a suspected disability for special education services;
Serve on Step Up to Quality Team
Serve as a member of Special Needs Preschool Leadership Team;
Collaborate on the placement process for all Special Needs Preschool students in the Least Restrictive Environment;
Provide Professional Development for Special Needs Preschool staff;
Serve as District Representative at IEP meetings;
Provide random checks for compliance and quality controls of SNP Individualized Education Plans:
Coordination of all summer services, evaluations, IEP meetings, screenings;
Gather, review, and distribute all SNP student files; including acceptance and uploading of transfer IEPs;
Input assessment scores (ECO and ELA) from district and county.
Attend district, city, and state meetings regarding the instruction, delivery, and compliance of special needs preschool children
Attend Special Education Coordinator meetings; and
Other related duties as assigned by Division of Early Childhood Education leadership
