The Columbus Blue Jackets are seeking an energetic individual who is enthusiastic and committed to promoting community development and partnerships to increase brand awareness and grow the game of hockey in central Ohio. The Community Development intern will be expected to assist with key projects directed to improving our community, sustaining the Blue Jackets’ reputation as a good corporate citizen, as well as assisting in the fundraising efforts for the Blue Jackets Foundation. This position requires attendance at some after-hours programs and weekend special events as well as a majority of Blue Jackets home games. This internship will give the student a great first-hand experience (and portfolio materials) from the world of sports.

Education Programs –provide day-to-day execution with school initiatives aimed at improving the Blue Jackets brand in the community such as Book Jackets, Student Achievers, Hockey Scholar, Power Play Challenge and the Avondale Adopt-A-School program. Duties include, but are not limited to, email/phone communication to parents and educators, prize fulfillment, maintain program databases, event planning and execution, and support events at schools as needed.

Donation Fulfillment – facilitate all monthly in-kind donations including donation fulfillment and inventory management. 

Special Events – provide support to Foundation/Community Development department around special events, such as game night 50/50 raffle, silent auction and jersey raffle, toy drives, CannonBall, Golf Classic, theme nights, Try Hockey for Free Day, Girls Hockey Weekend, and Equipment Sale.

Hockey Programs –provide assistance as needed for grassroots hockey programs such as Get Out And Learn and Learn To Play. Duties to include, but not limited to, email/phone communication to parents and facility contacts, maintain program databases, source event giveaways, setup/tear down of clinics and instruction, as needed.
