PURPOSE
This position will lead and maintain the Girls Stunt program.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Maintaining the Girls Stunt program.
  • Supervising Girls Stunt assistant coaches.
  • Maintaining positive communication with patrons and parents of athletes and potential athletes.
  • Maintaining Girls Stunt facilities/equipment and keeping in good condition.
  • Coordinating off-season camps and conditioning programs.
  • Encouraging good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport.
  • Collaborating with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to athletes.
  • Ensuring compliance with MSHAA.
  • Maintaining statistics on all players.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Athletic Director
Supervises: None
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: As per MSHSAA By-Law 3.1.1, each interscholastic team must have a head coach who meets the following requirements and who, then, may fill the duties and obligations of a head coach for the team, both under the sport rule code and in regard to the by-laws.
  • A Four-Year College Degree OR Serving as an Approved Assistant Coach (3.1.4.b) (non-Hardship Coach) for a minimum of TWO school years.
  • A Professional Teacher’s Certificate OR NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course (online) passed prior to coaching. This course is not sport-specific. This is a one-time requirement.
  • Successful completion of a Sports First Aid course prior to coaching and renewed every two years. (See options in Diagram 3.1)
  • Successful completion of CPR/AED training prior to coaching and renewed every two years. (See options in Diagram 3.1)
  • Background Check including Sex-Offender’s Registry Clearance prior to coaching.
  • Board of Education or Board of Governance Approval prior to coaching.
  • Successful completion of a Concussion in Sports Course, and review of current concussion information yearly.
  • Successful completion of the MSHSAA Sport-Specific Online Rules Review each season.
Preferred: In addition to the above, Bachelor’s degree; Missouri teaching certificate; Prior teaching/coaching experience.

Computation: Perform basic mathematical functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing; Apply concepts; such as, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning: Solve a variety of problems in many different situations; Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; Apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students
Other Skills and Abilities: Identify needs and abilities of individual students and to adapt instructional methods accordingly; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, administrators, and parents; perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Technology: Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use; Use district software for finding student information; Utilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district.
Physical Demands: Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously; Move around a classroom, gymnasium, and playing field; Read handwritten or printed material
Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position: Requires frequent evening and/or weekend work related to practice and competition; Evenings and/or weekends travel to accompany students to games and meets.
Sensory Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking.
Conditions and Environment: The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. The individual will be required to work outdoors.
