Description

Job Summary 

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire supply chain process within our heavy steel fabrication company. This role involves planning, implementing, and monitoring our overall supply chain strategy to maximize efficiency and productivity. The Supply Chain Manager will coordinate with various departments, including procurement, production, and logistics, to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and products 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supply Chain Strategy:

• Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.

• Continuously evaluate and improve supply chain processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks.

2. Procurement Management:

• Manage procurement activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.

• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts and pricing.

• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues to maintain a reliable supply chain.

3. Inventory Management:

• Oversee inventory control procedures to ensure optimal stock levels.

• Assist Materials team to track and manage inventory accurately.

• Conduct regular audits of inventory and address discrepancies.

4. Logistics and Distribution:

• Coordinate logistics activities, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.

• Optimize logistics operations to ensure timely delivery and minimize costs.

• Develop and maintain relationships with logistics providers.

5. Production Coordination:

• Work closely with production teams to ensure the availability of materials and components.

• Coordinate production schedules with supply chain activities to meet production targets.

• Address any supply chain-related issues that impact production.

6. Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

• Generate reports on supply chain performance and present findings to senior management.

• Utilize supply chain management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.

7. Team Management:

• Lead, train, and develop a team of supply chain professionals.

• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

• Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

8. Compliance and Sustainability:

• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.

• Promote sustainable supply chain practices and initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Supply Chain Manager or in a similar role within the heavy steel fabrication or manufacturing industry.

• Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, logistics, and procurement.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

• Proficiency in supply chain management software (e.g., Epicor) and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Proven leadership and team management skills.

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strategic thinking and planning capabilities to align production operations with overall business objectives.

• Analytical skills to interpret production data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

• Adaptability and flexibility to manage changing priorities and work under pressure.

• Project management skills to oversee large-scale projects from planning to completion.

• Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions without constant supervision.

• Takes the initiative from a proactive approach to identify and address supply chain issues before they escalate.

• High level of self-motivation and a strong work ethic, with a proven track record of driving projects to successful completion.

• Strong sense of accountability and ownership of the supply chain ecosystem, ensuring high standards of quality, cost, and delivery performance.

• Ability to inspire and motivate team members through personal example, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Certifications (Preferred)

• Professional certification such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).

• Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)

• Project Management Professional (PMP)

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position with options for hybrid or fully remote work arrangements.

• Regular virtual meetings and occasional on-site visits to the manufacturing facility may be required.

• May require extended hours and weekend work to meet production targets.

• Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures.
