Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure by adhering to aseptic technique.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other team members during the procedure.
- Monitor the patient's vital signs and assist with positioning and draping.
- Collect and analyze data related to the patient's condition before, during, and after surgery.
- Provide patient care, including prepping and positioning patients for surgery.
- Assist with wound closure and apply dressings as directed by the surgeon.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technician in an acute care setting.
- Proficient in basic life support (BLS) techniques.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems is preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent understanding of aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
- Ability to accurately assess vital signs and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Proficient in data collection and analysis to support quality improvement initiatives.
