Department: Admissions 
Location: Columbia, MO
Type: Student Employment, Part-time
Pay: $14 - $14 per hour (Pay range may vary based on geographic location)

Who we are
The purpose of the Student Ambassador position is to support the mission of the Day Campus Admissions Office by providing prospective first year and transfer students, along with their guests and families, a robust campus visit experience in an inclusive and fun manner!
What we need
An ideal candidate will be highly motivated, have a strong knowledge of CC’s campus, be personable, and promote inclusiveness. An ideal candidate will have a commitment to campus diversity initiatives. They will have the ability to work well as a part of a team of ambassadors, while also working independently to host tour groups. 
Required qualifications include:
  • Undergraduate students currently enrolled at Columbia College.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75
  • Genuine commitment to customer service
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Effective organization skills
  • Solid time management skills
  • Working knowledge of social media content creation
Preferred availability is a minimum of 4 hours per week.
Tours are M-F: 8:30-10:30AM, 10:30-12:30PM & 1:30-3:30PM
Additional hours expected to work special events and call nights.
What you’ll do
  • Clearly and effectively communicating with prospective students, their parents, and other guests while providing them an in-depth walking tour of the Columbia College traditional campus.
  • Answer questions about academics, student life, housing, dining, and the application process in a professional manner.
  • Share your own personal stories and positive experiences about life at CC. 
  • Take ownership of providing a positive campus visit experience by being welcoming, kind, respectful, and inclusive to all guests.
  • Collaborate with your Supervisor to provide feedback on how to enhance campus tours and recruiting events.
  • Preparing for tours by preparing marketing materials, and following up with guests through handwritten thank you cards.
  • Adhere to all parts of the Student Employment Handbook and Student Ambassador Handbook.
  • Actively participate in all meetings, events, and tours that are assigned. 
  • Assist with campus visit outreach to potential students through phone calls, or through handwritten postcards inviting students to campus.
  • Collaborating with fellow Student Ambassadors in creating TikTok content for CC account.
  • Work directly with Admissions event team to perform tasks related to event prep, set-up, and clean-up.
  • Assist with special Admissions events for prospective students.
  • Attend monthly Student Ambassador meetings.
Learning Outcomes and Enhanced Skill Sets:
  • Oral & Written Communication - By leading a tour group, a candidate will gain strong oral communication skills by effectively leading, telling, and showing prospective students the traditional campus of Columbia College. They will articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively to individuals inside and outside of Columbia College. 
  • Teamwork & Collaboration - A candidate will gain teamwork and collaboration skills by working closely with the department of Admissions and other Student Ambassadors to collaborate ideas on how to improve the campus visit experience.
  • Professionalism & Strong Work Ethic - A candidate will demonstrate personal accountability and effective work habits, through punctuality, working productively with others, and managing their time workload. They will understand the impact of non-verbal communication on professional work image in order to present themselves and Columbia College well to prospective students and their families.
  • Leadership - A candidate will effectively use their strengths to achieve common goals with the Department of Admissions, and use their interpersonal skills to work with other Student Ambassadors. They additionally will use empathetic skills to connect with prospective students and their families within this role.
