Job Title: Preschool Teacher
Reports to:
General Manager
Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Part-Time
Job Summary:
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe environment and quality childcare for children of members and guests using Silver Lake Club athletic facilities. He/she is responsible for the training and scheduling of the Preschool Staff. This position requires supervisory skills as well as constant, quality care and attention to children. The Preschool Teacher assures that the children and Preschool room are safe and clean at all times. He/She must enjoy and appreciate young children. Performance of this position is reviewed in terms of the Supervisor’s ability to manage staff and positively interact with children and members, maintain control over the Preschool room and children, and handle associated paperwork and scheduling accurately.
Critical Success Factors:
  • Ability to develop lesson plans.
  • Monitor/assess the performance of staff and Preschool procedures regularly to make improvements or take corrective action as needed.
  • Provide total care and welfare to the children in the Preschool Class.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and healthful environment.
  • Impart constant and positive supervision, attention, and interaction with children.
  • Pay close attention to the special needs and discipline of children.
  • Maintain awareness of the general health of the children and report any concerns to the parent and supervisor.
  • Organized in handling scheduling, staff, and Preschool paperwork.
  • Be able to supervise staff and model/enforce standards and expectations.
Essential Duties:
  • Keep the Preschool room safe, picked up and organized.
  • Keep the area free of any hazardous objects.
  • Read, draw and play games with the children.
  • Hold children and comfort them as necessary.
  • Keep orderly and positive interactions between children.
  • Discipline children when required.
  • Keep all children in the Preschool Class and follow check-in/out procedures.
  • Alert parents when the child needs special attention or cannot interact with other children in a constructive manner.
  • Remove ill children from Preschool.
  • Keep toys and surfaces clean and disinfected.
  • Vacuum area as needed.
  • Make sure that children are checked-out by the appropriate parent or guardian only.
  • Handle reservations and schedule.
  • Keep accurate records of billing.
  • Keep accurate medical records on each child.
  • Follow rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Advanced knowledge of childcare techniques.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of health and safety precautions concerning children.
  • Capable of relating to and entertaining children.
  • Ability to develop rapport with parents showing genuine concern and attention to any special care requirement.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • CPR certified.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, hear, talk, climb stairs, reach with hands and arms, stoop; operate office machinery, operate washing machine and dryer. Also this individual may experience frequent wrist bending/twisting and occasional bending at the waist. The employee will be called upon to lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
