Water Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor

Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking an individual with water treatment process expertise to oversee our Water Treatment Plant operations. Our plant leverages ozone and biofiltration technologies to provide the highest quality drinking water for southeast Colorado Springs and surrounding communities.

A day in the life of a Water Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor may include:

  • Providing leadership and direction to water treatment plant (WTP) operations staff
  • Coaching, mentoring, and training staff through providing clear expectations of daily operational duties and ensuring accountability
  • Establishing work assignments, priorities, and deadlines to meet objectives - and ensuring work is executed in compliance with applicable permits, rules, regulations, ordinances, codes, and with our policies, procedures, and standards
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and recommending adoption of work methods and procedures to ensure optimal WTP operations, safety, and adherence to quality and control
  • Coordinating WTP staff and resources to support regulatory inspections, compliance testing, and special projects
  • Responding to plant process irregularities, failures, alarms, and emergencies
  • Fostering and inspiring cooperative working relationships and eliminating barriers to teamwork
  • Staying up-to-date on water treatment technologies, processes, and best practices
  • Overseeing and conducting training and certification activities and programs (e.g., employee onboarding and training, operator certification training)

Who You Are

  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor staff in ways that ensure trust, commitment, performance, engagement, and professional growth
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes and treatment plant operations
  • Possession of a Water Treatment A Operator License is required
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required; this job requires operating Colorado Springs Utilities vehicles
