GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The primary responsibilities of this position include being responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service to internal and external customers through greeting and directing patients/visitors, gathering and forwarding updated patient information and overseeing the daily operations of the MRI department, as it pertains to check in/checkout.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:

• Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner 
• Provides check-in and check-out services to patients
• Schedule all MRI tests and injections; schedule all MRI follow up appointments
• Schedules appointments based on outgoing referral
• Oversee waiting area, coordinate patient flow and report problems to MRI tech
• Verify demographic and insurance information and update as necessary in EMR
• Verify patient paperwork for completion and scan required documents into the EMR system for accuracy
• Obtains referrals and authorizes tests with insurance company
• Verify current information for upcoming appointments 
• Maintain strict confidentiality, in accordance with HIPAA regulations
• Enter billing charges into EMR
• Send billing charges and schedule to radiology imaging consultants for billing on the radiology reading by Radiologists
• Attends meetings, as required
• Send MRI schedule to transcriptionist for accuracy of patient dictations
• Verifies delegation of tasks are completed in a timely manner
• Communicates with other staff member(s) at check in/check out on projects or tasks for completion
• Conducts audits to ensure efficiency and accuracy of authorizations, referrals
• Other duties, as assigned

Shift: Morning Shift (starting 6am or 7am) 10 hours a day

Days: Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
