The Opportunity
The MIRRORLab at the Colorado School of Mines is seeking a Staff Researcher for a short-term (Summer 2024), full-time position in the Department of Computer Science. The successful candidate will work with Dr.TomWilliamsto investigate natural language generation for interactive robots. The selected candidate will perform literature review and experimental efforts towards these goals while mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and assisting with laboratory management and outreach efforts.Responsibilities
Participate in a weekly research group meeting
Meet weekly with undergraduates to provide research guidance
Meet as needed with graduate students to provide research guidance
Assist graduate students with paper writing, and provide reviews of graduate student abstracts, posters, proposals, presentations, and papers
Submit first-authored conference and journal publications
Assist with literature reviews and proposal writing
Performs other duties as assigned*
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science or Robotics by August 2024.
Preferred Qualifications
Track record of publicationsintop-tier conferences or journalsinthe field of HRI.
Strong skillsin human-subjects experimental design, qualitative methods, and written and oral communication.
Experience with natural language-oriented robot cognitive architectures and Bayesian Statistics.
Experience supervising undergraduates and mentoring undergraduates towards publications at top HRI venues
Compensation Rate and Benefits
$19.23/Hour
