GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Nursing Assistant is responsible for contacting patients regarding lab & test results as well as plan of care changes made by physician within the scope of a Nursing Assistant. Additionally, the assistant is responsible for assisting the Registered Nursing pool with telephone & in-office triage, as well as the completion of various medical forms requested by patients (ie. DOT physicals, etc). Additional INR duties as requested within the Nursing Assistant scope of practice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty
Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and CHV practices
Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty
Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families
SKILLS:
Skill in performing tasks appropriately
Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions
Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures and office protocols
Ability to project a pleasant and professional image
Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks
Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Work may require sitting for long periods; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and fax machine. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in normal range for telephone contacts.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment. Involves frequent contact with physicians, staff, consultants and patients. Work may be stressful at times.
TEAMWORK: The success of CHV is based upon every member working together to help the team accomplish its goal. Teamwork requires cooperation and a group effort. When CHV’s goals are achieved, the individual team members will also benefit.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of two years medical office experience preferred.
