He and his colleague, John Faulker, established the Center with one overarching goal: transform the way eye care is seen and approached in Colorado and beyond. Both doctors specialized not only in general optometry but also (and most importantly) inpatient care. From the office they shared, they made sure to operate with a “patient, first” mentality being at the forefront of their efforts. This was the case in 1963. And that legacy of care continues today. Today, Colorado Eye Center has 13 specialized doctors and six facilities. Our practice continues to advance forward, not only keeping up with the standard but innovating past the ‘expected’ to discover the unimaginable.

The Optometric Technician primary responsibility is to capture photographic documentation of the back of the eye. Appropriate licensing or certification as required by state regulations and/or governing boards, may allow duties to include the administration of fluorescein injection. Additional duties may include performing the duties and responsibilities of a clinical ophthalmic or retina technician. Responding to front office requests and working in partnership with all clinical office departments to promote a cooperative and supportive practice setting to positively impact the patient experience is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems.
  • Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, keratometry, refraction and pachymetry.
  • External examination and slit lamp.
  • Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination.
  • Code for services.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff, managers, and doctors
  • Experience as an optometric scribe or technician preferred, but not required.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail.
  • Highly energetic with positive attitude.
  • Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business.
