Position: Teacher - Secondary French
Location: William Penn High School
State Date: August 2024
Reports to: Principal
Compensation: Refer to current teacher salary scale on District website
Work Year: 10 months

POSITION GOAL:
To create and sustain an educational environment conducive to the fulfillment of the District’s Mission so that maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized. A teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering instruction based on the approved curriculum and Common Core State Standards to help students move towards academic proficiency.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
1. Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification as an World Language
French Teacher
2. Bachelor’s degree or Master degree
3. Student Teaching - Praxis II World Language French
4. Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children’s Educational
Software etc.
5. Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic and
socioeconomic groups.
6. Show evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in
promoting student learning while shows evidence of knowledge while
increasing student achievement
7. Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks.
8. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
9. Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on Child Abuse Registry
in the State of Delaware.
10. Must be able to teach/serve students remotely and in person depending on the
needs of their students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the District. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Delivers instruction based on the general education Curriculum and Common
State Standards.
2. Develops weekly lesson plans that contain all of the required components
3. Delivers instruction utilizing appropriate resources, computers, audio-visual
aids, equipment materials technology and instructional strategies to supplement
instruction and presentations.
4. Provides differentiated instruction based on the student’s individual level of
functioning and preferred learning modalities.
5. Plans and supervises paraprofessionals, volunteers, class projects, field trips
visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities and guide students in
learning from those activities.
6. Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instructions,
demonstrations, and work time that provide students with opportunities to
observe, question, and investigate.
7. Develops and implements a classroom management system
8. Provides a positive role model of appropriate and respectful interactions
with students and staff.
9. Develops, teachers, and reviews clear and concise classroom rules, routines
Procedures and expectations.
10. Follows the strategies and requirements for effective behavior management,
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training.
11. Assesses students in assigned certification area
12. Administers appropriate and required informal and formal assessments
based on student needs and State Regulations(SBAC,ELA)
13. Collects and interprets data and utilizes it to modify instruction, content,
and to report progress to parents and the school district.
14. Summarizes assessment results and provides information to other staff
members and administrators for IEP development and/or periodic reviews.
15. Designs an instructional program based on core curriculum and adapted to meet
individuals needs
16. Uses assessment and programs monitoring data, designated subject area
curriculum as well as the Common Core Standards, benchmarks and eligible
content (Reading, Writing, and Speaking & Listening) to develop each student’s
instructional program.
17. Prepares and implements remedial programs for students requiring extra help
18. Works with the IEP team (for identified students) or the Alternative Education
review team to decide what specially designed instruction and accommodations
are needed for the student to be successful.
19. Incorporates research-based programs and strategies into the instructional
program, which includes Professional Learning Communities. Learning
Focused Solutions, and Response to Intervention.
20. Collaborates/communicates with related service providers, parents and
school district staff.
21. Follows the appropriate protocols when questions, issues and/or concerns arise.
22. Apprises all parties who have a legitimate educational interest in the student of
meetings, concerns, progress and other issues.
23. Confers with parents/guardians, teachers, school counselors, specialist, and
administrators to resolve student's behavioral and academic problems.
24. Establishes and maintains a cooperative and professional relationship with
peers, support staff, parents, administration, agency staff and school district staff.
25. Complieswith Federal, State and Local Regulations and Policies.
26. Accurately completes all required paperwork within the designated timeline.
27. Utilizes all available resource materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, District
website, Collaborative Agreement, Professional Code of Conduct, Administrative
procedures, School District Board Policies, etc.) to complete required paperwork
maintain professionalism and to avoid potential violations/noncompliance.
28. Cooperates with Federal, State and Local Agency Personnel during Alternative
Education and/or Special Education Compliance Monitoring and/or dispute
resolution activities.
29. Remains current in certification research, instructional strategies & technology
30. Attends in-service programs, mandated trainings and self-selected workshops
conferences, courses, etc.
31. Reads journal articles investigates internet resources and collaborates with
other professionals and/or mentors.
32. Keeps certification current and active by monitoring status, including clock
hours, on the DEEDS website.
33. Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
