Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. This position requires a strong knowledge of veterinary medicine and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
- Take and develop x-rays
- Prepare animals for surgery, including prepping surgical sites and monitoring anesthesia
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery progress
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, including medication administration and nutrition
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
- Clean and maintain equipment, exam rooms, and kennels
Qualifications:
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Veterinary Technician (VT) license preferred
- Experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting
- Proficiency in pet grooming techniques
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care procedures
- Strong skills in dog handling and restraint
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and medical abbreviations
- Ability to perform animal catheterization
- Experience with X-ray imaging and interpretation
- Understanding of animal physiology and behavior
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a team environment
