Paraprofessional (FLSA Status- Non-Exempt)
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
To perform instructional support to teachers and assist with classroom management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists with management of all assigned students
Applies basic instructional techniques applicable to curriculum
Understands and follows through with oral and written instructions directed by teacher/supervisor
Monitors students and controls behavior of students in classroom and non-classroom situations
Helps promote students’ independence, social skills, and self-help skills
Operates standard office equipment
Assists with monitoring students on playgrounds, getting on and off buses, and to and from classroom.
Prepares, compiles, and copies instructional materials as directed
Provides set up/clean up for instructional projects
Demonstrates effective communication skills and teamwork
Demonstrates good work habits to include punctual and regular attendance
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as requested
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with principals, school staff and administrators
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing to large and small groups as well as individuals; ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with others
Tuberculin skin test certifying that the individual is free of contagious tuberculosis
LICENSE:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience in related field preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work involves limited physical tasks and operation of office equipment
HAZARDS:
Work involves exposure to normal everyday hazards
UNUSUAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed throughout the division and requires no unusual demands
EVALUATIONS:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of School Board Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel
