Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Project Engineer to play a key role on our team in our Salt Lake City, Utah office. This role provides the opportunity to provide technical engineering information to the Project Manager to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions. The Transportation Project Engineer plans, designs, and directs entry level staff in reviewing and completion of project tasks. This candidate will review, analyze, and provide recommendations on field and design issues. This position requires responsibility for small to moderately difficult projects and works towards large projects with multiple professional disciplines. The candidate will work on projects such as design of roadways, highways, bikeways, and other transportation corridors. This is a great opportunity for a driven project engineer to advance into project management.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES mayinclude the following:
Independently preforms moderately difficult engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
Is active in technical societies.
Responsible for moderately difficult engineering projects in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications
Work directly with clients.
Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
Monitor project budgets.
Ensure accurate client billings and monitors outstanding accounts receivable.
Assist in proposal preparation, project scoping, estimating project costs, project planning, and project quality.
Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
Direct and supervise the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters and administrative staff.
Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university and a minimum of 5 years’ experience or the equivalent thereof.
At least four years of design experience in the transportation industry, including roadway, highway or active transportation,
Professional Engineer (P.E.).
Valid driver’s license.
