Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Principal Quality Engineer, Engineering Quality Assurance to support the Design Quality & Integrity function within the Mission Systems strategic business unit. Ideal candidates should possess a passion for problem solving and satisfying customers through the delivery of improvements to the global engineering ecosystem, including providing compelling gains to the consistency, efficiency, and productivity of product development efforts across engineering processes and programs. The focus of this position will be to analyze Design and Development processes and develop new methods to improve productivity, efficiency, and operational costs. The Engineering Quality Assurance role examines the way an organization operates and its performance goals, and recommends ways to achieve overall improvement. This position is performed with minimal supervision and requires a candidate with highly-effective communication skills, a strong bias for action, and the ability to prioritize and advance multiple objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide solutions to complex technical design quality problems using established quality practices
  • Follow changes in industry quality methods and implement as appropriate
  • Lead the creation and adoption of processes and procedures
  • Review design products and processes for compliance to contract, regulatory and business requirements and review work practices for adequacy
  • Develop methods to ensure the successful completion of program quality assessments
  • Interface with quality and program leadership to raise and support resolution of quality issues
  • Interact with product development and test personnel through both written and verbal communication
  • Have knowledge of emerging quality and design development paradigms such as PPAP, agile and DevSecOps
  • Collaborate with leadership on the effectiveness of process related to the design and release of design artifacts
  • Develop and negotiate quality requirements and support for projects
The successful candidate will have mature skills and competencies in many of the following domains:
  • Quality Engineering methods and practices
  • Design and Development experience (requirements capture, implementation, verification, validation, support)
  • Manufacturing and transition to manufacturing process knowledge (planning, assembly, inspection, test)
  • Test Equipment, Modeling and Simulation, Firmware and Configurable Logic, System or Software Engineering, or Supplier Quality
  • Metrics and Data Analysis
Basic Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret Security Clearance is required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance is Preferred, not required
  • STEM degree highly desired
  • Quality background preferred
  • ZDP, ACE, Lean, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis experience
  • Ability to interpret specs
  • Data Mining experience
  • Quality Certifications (ASQ, CQE)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in negotiating, having difficult conversations, and ability to work well with factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrate ability to understand engineering drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
