Collins Aerospace is seeking a spring/summer co-op for 2024 with our Industrial Engineering department within our Fire Protection Systems manufacturing site located Wilson, NC. This student will support our team in the transformation of various value streams throughout our site with the utilization of various lean and six sigma methodology. The team culture is extremely collaborative and engaged; we value our customer, our products and our people (that means you). This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run May/June to December; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past December 2024.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Study product requirements and determine capital equipment and labor staffing to meet requirements.

  • Conduct labor and machine capacity analysis and identify/manage improvement initiatives to increase efficiency

  • Develop methods to increase productivity, maximize efficiency and manage human capital more effectively

  • Design layouts of equipment and workspace and improving process flow

  • Establishes the physical layout of machinery and the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow.

  • Plans the sequence of operations and procedures and documents manufacturing standard work and routings.

  • Evaluate the effects of schedule and product design changes

  • May assist facilities engineers (planning and design of facilities) and materials logistics (packaging design).

  • Participate in and lead Kaizen (continuous improvement) events.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, creative thinking and project management skills.

  • Strong time management skills, ability to multi-task and adaptable to changing priorities.

  • Self-starter, who can prioritize to meet various deadlines.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with good interpersonal skills.
