Performance ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Serve as the dual enrollment coordinator for CHS.
Monitor student academic progress in dual enrollment courses.
Assist students in the application process for TSAC grants and post-secondary institutions.
Work with academic counselors to ensure eligibility requirements for dual enrollment courses.
Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, statements, etc.
Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, evaluations, statements, etc. using prescribed formats.
Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.
Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
Requires the ability to talk and hear ideas by means of spoken word.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Must be organized and detailed oriented.
Additional Duties And ResponsibilitiesMeet one-on-one with students to determine academic and career goals.
Assist students as they review career aptitude results to determine aptitudes, interests, and to learn about post-secondary options.
Maintain and analyze the Naviance suite of career and aptitude assessments for both middle schools and High School.
Screen and assist students in applying for internships and/or apprenticeships in their area.
Assist in administering the career readiness assessment.
Plan, develop, and implement exploration opportunities, including college campus visits, career fairs, industry visits, parent sessions, etc.
Work directly with the MOU colleges to connect students to applicable programs as identified by the CTE coordinator.
Maintain accurate Dual enrollment records as needed.
Connect industry representatives to participants through job shadowing/mentoring opportunities for further career exploration and to build interest in local workforce opportunities.
Assist students in understanding Soft Skills to be successful in the workplace.
Work with economic developers, businesses, associations, and local and state agencies to promote the program and build connections to industry in conjunction with the CTE Supervisor.
Plan, develop, and implement programming to work directly with parents and educate them on workforce opportunities, available financing, and educational opportunities for their student.
Maintain accurate and complete records of student interactions, events, and all other work assignments.
Prepare reports on students and activities as required.
Become a contact for parent and student inquiries and assist with monthly career coaching meetings with students pursuing Industry 4.0 Diploma Distinction.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Training And QualificationsValid Tennessee Counseling Endorsement required.
Master's Degree required.
Minimum Of Five Years Successful Counseling/teaching Experience Preferred.Record of positive classroom experiences.
Knowledge of Tennessee curriculum.
Ability to conduct professional development for teachers and administrators.
Ability to disaggregate, interpret, and analyze assessment data.
Success working collaboratively with colleagues.
Communicate effectively with administrators, principals, teachers, and parents both orally and in writing.
Considerable knowledge of the county and school board policies, procedures, and standards regarding K-12 education

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs.
Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems, philosophies, laws, regulations, and procedures; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria and the goals and priorities of planning and development programs.
Ada CompliancePhysical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time standing or sitting at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as rude/irate customers.
