Colliers Engineering & Design is Hiring a Transportation Intern Near Valhalla, NY

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our Traffic Planning Group in Valhalla, NY! 

Our interns will assist technical staff on day-to-day projects in their respective disciplines. Colliers Engineering & Design internships are unique in that they are work-centered, meaning you are working on real, billable client work right away. This is a great way to gain real life experience in consulting.

In addition to the work-centered program, we also offer robust internship programming, which includes opportunities to work with other interns, learn about other areas of the business, and develop valuable communication skills and networking connections. 

Responsibilities

  • Interns will have the opportunity to be involved starting from day 1.
  • Assisting junior and senior level engineers with project deadlines, technical reporting and design capabilities 
  • Traffic analysis responsibilities including data collection, crash analysis, and intersection & roadway capacity analysis utilizing various software, under the supervision of junior and senior level engineers 
  • Traffic reporting duties including preparation of traffic impact studies as assigned by your management team 
  • CAD work for conceptual design plans from a traffic planning & preliminary design 
  • Construct cost estimating responsibilities for detailed design plans
  • Opportunity to advance to higher level responsibility depending upon performance throughout the summer
  • Collaboration with other interns in to understand various disciplines and aspects of Colliers Engineering & Design 
  • Participation in planning and technical report documentation 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree program required 
  • Applicants must be in their sophomore year (2nd year) of their college program or higher 
  • Applicants must be in the pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree from an ABET Accredited University 
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team-oriented environment 
  • Ability to be flexible in working across various departments and day to day tasks 
  • Previous experience with CAD as a design tool preferred 
  • 3.0 GPA or higher preferred
  • Previous coursework in Traffic Planning or Traffic Design or Transportation preferred
  • Prior internship experience preferred but not required 
  • Interest in working on Traffic and Transportation related projects
