Overview

KFW Engineers Surveying, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a Civil AutoCAD Technician to join our team in San Antonio, Texas!

In this role you will perform a broad variety of drafting duties utilizing Computer-Aided Design/Drafting (CADD) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Responsible for executing surveying, engineering, and drafting functions. Prepare preliminary drafts of construction projects, permit applications, performs inspections, and generate accurate and detailed records of engineering data. Exercises considerable judgment and initiative in the performance of job duties.

Responsibilities

• Working knowledge of alignments, surfaces, points, and profiles.
• Research and compile records and field data for the preparation of land survey and construction plans.
• Develop and draft engineering plans and drawings.
• Prepare complex drawings for civil engineering projects.
• Maintain active communication with contractors, engineers, surveyors, government agencies and the general public for any engineering, surveying or construction issues.
• Analyze maps of residential, commercial and governmental developments and properties.
• Prepares and maintain drafts of public drainage systems, roadways, utilities and right-of­-ways.
• Performs research, fieldwork, drafting tasks and documentation of engineering data as requested by other departments.
• Perform routine AutoCAD and computer software maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Maintain updated working and technical knowledge of all enhancements and procedural changes to software and hardware application.
• Understand and follow highly complex written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing the state’s building construction industry as they relate to CADD drafting. 
• Skill in maintaining, updating, evaluating and operating all AutoCAD software and equipment.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED• Associates Degree in industry related field preferred• Working knowledge of alignments, surfaces, points, and profiles• Civil 3D experience a plus• If operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties, must possess a valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
