Job Summary

Performs professional work coordinating various programs supporting the Library Division, focusing on youth services programs. The purpose of this classification is to plan, coordinate, train staff, and present programs to meet the needs of various segments of the community. Employees in this classification maintain the day-to-day operations and development of a variety of programs, coordinates staff and volunteers, prepare and maintains data and reports, schedules facilities, and promote programs. Applies specialized skills learned through training and educational background to provide various programs and services to meet the needs of various age groups. Must be comfortable working with small children.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates operational programs in support of Division or Department objectives; participates in the planning, development, and coordination of programs and/or special events.
  • This Program Coordinator will focus on providing youth services programming.
  • Participates in the promotion, explanation and interpretation of public outreach objectives, benefits, and programs; develops and establishes appropriate communications and manages a proactive approach to information dissemination to County staff and/or the public.
  • Coordinates the activities of assigned support, administrative, and office functions; reviews and processes a variety of internal and external reports, forms, invoices, contracts, and related documents; prepares related statistical summaries and narrative reports.
  • Receives and responds to requests, inquiries, and complaints from the public, other jurisdictions, and other County Divisions, Departments, and sections; prepares and proofreads correspondence for format, accuracy, and completeness; coordinates activities with and provides information to outside contractors and service providers.
  • Summarizes and assembles reports and information, trend analysis, and prepares information releases; develops, plans, and drafts various Department documents, reports, projects related material.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties for the program; assists in the preparation of program budget development documents, tracks expenditures and revenues.
  • Assesses potential site locations for special events, and recreational activities and determines potential use.
  • Assists the Program Manager in supervision and training.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day operations of Library programs; creates and updates strategic plans and goals for Library programs ensuring compliance with the County and Library’s Strategic Plan; serves as liaison with external agencies, activities, groups, and/or functions to promote the goals of Library programs.
  • Provides assistance; maintains up-to-date agency contacts for efficient service to patrons and staff to reference and use.
  • Recruits, coordinates, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in providing program services and support; conducts in-house and outside training workshops; plans, prioritizes, and performs work schedules. Schedules class and programming facilities to ensure the most efficient and effective use of resources; selects orders, and inventories materials.
  • Plans and develops training to meet needs of division and creates and assesses job aids such as standard operating procedure documents as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree required.
  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Candidates without a degree should possess two (2) additional years of related experience.
  • Fingerprinting required.

  • Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
  • Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
