Collegiate Coaching Services is Hiring a Mental Health Counselor Executive Function Coach Near Boulder, CO

Collegiate Coaching Services (CCS) is a community-based therapeutic, executive function, and clinical service for teens, young adults, and families. We offer in-person services to those who live in/around Boulder Colorado and Boston Massachusetts. We are currently hiring for our Boulder location only. Important for all applicants to review before applying: We are hiring for one full-time Mental Health-Academic Coach to join our team in June, 2024.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Master's degree in counseling psychology, community counseling, marry and family therapy, neuropsychology, or related field.
  • Possess relevant-direct experience with teens, young adults, and families in academic and/or mental health environments.

· You can expect to engage face-to-face with clients on average 25 hours per week, and additional face-to-face client hours will occur, which is determined by your skill level and comfortability engaging with clients.

· Your work week includes individual supervision, team meetings, group supervision, and administrative tasks.

· We embrace and support autonomy and flexibility. This position is ideal for those who have recently graduated from a master's degree program in or similar to, counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy.

We are in central Boulder Pearl and 23rd Street. We are seeking someone who lives near our location (within a 30-minute drive) because we know long commutes can diminish the joy of employment. Although we serve local universities, coaches primarily spend time on campus with clients who attend CU-Boulder and in our offices. At times, virtual coaching will take place as we accept clients who do not live locally.

What To Expect:

· In addition to direct client meetings, the position requires time devoted to individual and group supervision, team meetings, client collaboration meetings, and administration time (e.g., writing notes, emailing, commute time, etc.), and at times, facilitating groups and social activities with our clients.

· While some of our meetings with our clients occur through a video-conferencing platform, most of our work is done in person as well as our meetings with other staff. We prioritize experiential activities with our clients, including spending time outdoors, hiking, walking, connecting with the Boulder community, and spending time on local campuses when indicated.

Position Description:

· The therapeutic coach/executive functioning coach will carry a caseload of clients where they will work one-on-one and on teams providing coaching services to teens, young adults, and their parents. Coaches will teach and support clients to strengthen executive function skills, life management skills, emotional regulation skills, providing recovery support if indicated, and supporting students to navigate higher educational institutions.

· The coach will collaborate with the client, parents, and team members, as well as their supervisor, to help each client reach their goals.

· We specialize in areas such as executive function development, successful independent living, family relationships, recovery from mental health issues, screen overuse issues (e.g., video games, social media, and more), substance abuse, college success, as well as connecting in a healthy way with peers and support systems.

· This role requires that you possess the skills to motivate clients to achieve their highest potential, collaborate with professionals and parents, and communicate effectively with team members associated with the client. It also includes updating parents on progress and supporting parents to develop new skills and strategies to support their child's development and success.

Position Requirements:

● Experience working with teens and young adults with learning differences is a plus, however not required. Experience related to neurodevelopmental conditions such as high functioning Autism spectrum, ADHD, and mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, and experience working with parents and families is ideal.

● Applicants who are a good match for this position are comfortable with and skillful in the areas of organization, planning, preparing, and time management, as well as the desire to have a variable and flexible schedule, which may include evening and weekend hours, although weekend hours are infrequent and not regular.

Do not apply if you cannot accommodate coaching meetings during the evenings and weekends. Although evening and weekend work is not frequent or regular, some level of availability during these time periods is a requirement of this position.

● The position requires exceptional preparation, planning, organizational and collaboration skills with team members/supervisors.

● The applicant understands and possesses basic relationship skills, which include being empathetic, and an exceptional ability to listen, validate, and be non-judgmental.

● An ability to interact with parents with a confident, collaborative, and directive approach.

● The applicant is a self-starter and self-motivated.

The desired candidate can commit to a minimum of 1 year and we are seeking team members who desire to be on our team beyond one year for consistent support of students who are often with us beyond one academic year.

Position Responsibilities:

We provide an excellent and thorough training program to all new team members.

● Keep up-to-date and accurate client records.

● Ability to plan and prepare ahead of time for coaching sessions.

● Coaching will occur in person in our offices, the community, and on the CU-Boulder campus.

● Collaborating with parents and providing updates to parents on son/daughter’s progress. Have a strong willingness to engage with parents to provide updates, encouragement, and more.

● Maintain current knowledge of policies and resources available at higher educational institutions in the Boulder area.

● Create and maintain a safe, healthy, and professional boundary with each client.

● Engage with colleagues and supervisors to discuss strategies to help support clients.

● Continue personal development by learning new research and proven strategies to improve Executive Function, self-motivation, and more.
