College Park Church is Hiring an Assistant Pastor of Student Ministry Near Indianapolis, IN

Job Title: Assistant Pastor of Student Ministry

Purpose Statement:

Provide leadership direction, vision, and oversight to College Park Church (CPC) Student Ministry. This includes leading, developing, and providing pastoral care for the spiritual needs of students, parent, lay leaders, staff, and others involved in Student Ministry. This also includes effectively partnering with parents in the discipleship of their students grades 7-12.

Reports to:Pastor of Students & Sunday Ministries

Responsibilities:

Student Ministry Oversight

  • Develop, lead, and shepherd a thriving student ministry in pursuit of CPC’s mission, Core Values, discipleship strategy, goals, and plans
  • Develop and manage curriculum for student ministry
  • Develop, lead, and disciple the following:
    • Leaders: meet regularly to check in with leaders. Provide coaching and development on an on going basis.
    • Students: disciple and meet with students regularly. This could include counseling, discipleship, development, and other ways to connect with students.
    • Parents: meet with parents to help guide and assistant with the development and spiritual needs of students.
  • Lead or supervise the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of student programming, counseling, events, discipleship, outreach initiatives, and leader development
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and motivating of a vibrant team of volunteer leaders who will carry out the bulk of interaction with students
  • Lead, manage, and develop student ministry staff team members
  • Teach on a rotational basis with other student ministry leaders/staff
  • Provides a variety of venues for parent partnership, communication, resources, and support
  • Meet and work with other ministries outside of CPC to build relationships. This includes but is not limited to:
    • School ministries
    • Local youth pastors
    • Local ministry partners
    • Missionaries
  • Take time to learn, grow, and develop in student ministries, its needs, and the nuances of how to interact and lead
  • Co-lead and develop the CPC student leadership team in tandem with student staff
  • Collaborate closely with the Children’s Ministry team and broader Sunday team
  • Counsel students as needed in partnership with the CPC Soul Care team

Other Ministry Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Personally model and reinforce the mission, Core Values, and culture of CPC
  • Participate in pastoral shepherding responsibilities with members including assisting in parish shepherding and in being actively engaged in Sunday

morning ministry

  • Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude in performing all work to honor Jesus
  • Communicate in a professional and biblical manner in public and private
  • Attend staff meetings, pastors meetings, and other meetings as deemed necessary by the Directional and Executive Team
  • Model and reinforce a lifestyle of healthy balance between ministry, family, and other personal responsibilities
  • Maximize Sunday services (morning and Worship-based Prayer Nights) to meet, encourage, and maintain a “ministry of presence”
  • Disciple others to model the ministry of discipleship at College Park
  • Follow and hold others accountable to College Park Church’s policies and procedures

Education & Skill Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in ministry or a related field is preferred
  • At least five years of ministry leadership, preferably in student ministry of some kind
  • A proven record of effective leadership
  • The ability to connect and build relationships with church members, parents, students, and kids
  • Ability to maintain a healthy work/life balance

  • Ability to use appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationship with supervisors, coworkers, and volunteers

Work Schedule

  • This is a full-time, salaried position, 40 hours per week, Sunday-Thursday
  • Weekly attendance at Sunday afternoon student gatherings and monthly Worship-based Prayer Nights required. Some weekend and evening responsibilities are required.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and other staff functions required
