Sequoias Community College District is seeking an equity-minded candidate to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in the Work Experience Department beginning August 2023.

Job Duties
The Work Experience Coordinator is responsible for teaching, organizing and coordinating Work Experience, Internship, and other experiential learning at College of the Sequoias.
Duties include:
  • general work experience instruction, including meeting regularly with students, verifying enrollment, student performance evaluation, developing and evaluating student learning objectives, and grading
  • oversight and general office coordination for the Work Experience program, including problem-solving of staff or program issues, participation in writing performance evaluations and in performance meetings, completion of program review, coordination of staff schedules, and conducting staff meetings
  • maintenance and recordkeeping, including maintaining student records and files, development and monitoring of department budget, and insurance records
  • conducting site visits to student work sites
  • maintaining and developing liaisons with appropriate governmental agencies, businesses and industries, including identifying, researching, and implementing new and innovative work-based learning programs
  • managing and updating work experience curriculum, including work with various professional/ technical and transfer programs at the district to develop new curriculum and participating in various meetings to develop program goals and procedures
  • compliance with applicable sections of California Education Code and other applicable laws pertaining to work experience, internship and other experiential programs
  • providing support to students, work experience faculty, and community/employment partners, including training faculty instructors on approved curriculum and best practices in work-based learning instruction
  • other related duties as assigned
Must possess at time of hire and maintain a valid California Class C driver's license and a safe
driving record during the course of employment.
Assignments include travel to student work sites, and may include evening hours and teaching at any of the Sequoias Community College District campuses: Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in the governance of the Sequoias Community College District by way of committee assignments is encouraged.
Other responsibilities include maintenance of office hours, participation in department and/or division responsibilities, and the willingness to create and participate in and sustain an atmosphere of equity, which is respectful of diversity Districtwide.
Qualifications
The candidate must meet the following criteria:
  • A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in any discipline offered at the college
OR
  • The Equivalent
AND
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, which pursuant to Title 5 53022, is a core system competency and job requirement.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with organizing/managing a work-based learning/career exploration program, including working with associated staff, faculty, community/employment partners and advisors
  • Experience teaching at the community college level, preferably in work experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including experience in report writing and recordkeeping.
  • Knowledge of local, regional, and statewide workforce development efforts, strategies and resources.
  • Experience in curriculum development and review and assessment of student learning outcomes, including the analysis of disaggregated data to ensure equitable student learning and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of current employment preparation techniques, including search and hiring techniques and practices, use of technology, and interview preparation.
  • Experience providing mentorship to students seeking employment and/or professional development to faculty in a work-based learning program.
