College of the Muscogee Nation is Hiring a Cook Part-time Near Okmulgee, OK

Description

General Summary: Under the direction of the Food Service Supervisor, on an assigned shift, the Cook will be responsible for planning, supervising, preparing and cooking all food and the preparation and making of beverages in a kitchen providing meals daily for 100 or more persons. Will plan, supervise and review the work of subordinates engaged in preparation, cooking, serving food, kitchen maintenance and working the cash register.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The provisions of the following Cook duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. On an assigned shift, be responsible for planning, serving and supervising the preparation and cooking of all food and making of beverages
  2. To estimate food needs in advance and to requisition kinds and amounts of food necessary to comply with menu requirements
  3. To supervise the receipt, storage, care and distribution of food supplies
  4. To be responsible for the preparation of meals adhering to approved standardized recipes and a predetermined time schedule
  5. To instruct and train subordinates in the proper preparation and cooking of foods
  6. To clean and inspect kitchen, cafeteria, refrigerators, storage rooms and kitchen equipment for cleanliness and freedom from pests and rodents
  7. To operate the dish washing machine and to perform those duties necessary to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and related areas
  8. Operate the cash register when needed and reconcile cash drawer at end of shift
  9. Participate on College committees as assigned
  10. Adhere to college dress code; maintain professional appearance and manner.
  11. Other related duties as assigned

Job Specifications:

  1. Minimum Requirements –High School diploma or GED. 12-24 months experience in Food Service or any combination of education and experience which is substantially equivalent to the above qualifications. Good organizational skills and ability to work well with the public is essential. Communicate orally and in writing as required for reports and to exchange information, read and understand basic written materials; basic math and computer skills. Must be able to work weekends and/or evenings.

2. Preferred Requirements – An Associate Degree. Knowledge of tribal college student services issues. Excellent oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

3. Special Considerations – Ability to speak the Muscogee (Creek) language is preferable but not a requirement. Native American and veteran preference.

4. Special Requirements-Regular exposure to extreme temperature changes, odors and loud noises; must be able to bend, lift, stoop. Lift above shoulders and carry 30 pounds; may perform shift work; willing to ear and maintain uniforms including head covering; may be required to carry equipment up to 50 pounds; Hepatitis A & B shots required.

Qualifications


Licensure/Certifications (if appropriate): Valid Driver’s License. Safe Food Handling and Sanitation Certification.
