STATUS: Full-Time.
DIVISION: Marketing & Communications.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Marketing & Communications.
SUPERVISES: N/A.
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt.
Position Description:
The College for Creative Studies is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic self-starter to maintain, update, and add content to the official CCS websites and other digital outlets. As a member of the team in the Office of Marketing and Communications, the individual will manage web content development for the College which includes collaboration with academic departments and other members of the campus community. He/she/they will ensure that content on the College's website is timely, relevant, creative, and integrated with other marketing messaging and aligned with the mission of the College. The individual will also assist in the creation of email communication for the College, direct and implement the SEO/SEM strategy, and will stay current on the changing landscape of web analytics. He/she/they will act as the Web Accessibility Coordinator and will be responsible for ensuring that CCS’s multiple websites are accessible. He/she/they will regularly conduct audits of CCS’s web properties and contracted web services to ensure that the content posted is accessible and meets the technical standards adopted by CCS. The Web Accessibility Coordinator will work with the User Experience Designer to ensure that all problems identified through the accessibility audits are documented, evaluated, and if necessary, remediated.
Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions:
  • Develops and maintains the College's web content and search engine optimization.
  • Works with the user experience designer to assesses, improve and manage the College’s website information architecture to streamline the user experience and ensure content and functionality are meeting the needs of the college and its audiences. 
  • Supports the development and implementation of new information architecture as needed and to incorporate new programs and initiatives into the site.
  • Collaborates across the organization to clearly define audiences, objectives, and requirements for the website and other digital projects. Recommends and executes web strategies and enhancements to meet goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring all website content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with branding, design, accessibility and editorial standards.
  • Finds, diagnoses, and fixes content problems, including broken links, typographical errors, and formatting inconsistencies. Ensure page layouts, content priority, navigation, and design is consistent across the website.
  • Collaborates and contributes urgent message support during emergency/crisis situations via the College's website, including during evening and weekend hours.
  • Updates website content and creates new web pages, as needed, using the College’s CMS.
  • Participates in and contributes to web content planning meetings.
  • Works closely with the Executive Director of Marketing & Communications and the User Experience Design to ensure effective, visually appealing, and intuitive implementation of additions and changes to web content.
  • Work to ensure that the College’s website meets all regulatory, state and federal policies for accessibility, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA (at a minimum) for desktop and mobile access.
  • Performs cross-browser testing on mobile, tablet and desktop.
Qualifications and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required and three to five years of demonstrated experience with constructing and developing content for and maintaining websites.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills are a must.
  • Able to independently interpret data and make strategic decisions on digital media initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of link-building and content marketing best practices.
  • Working knowledge of SEO/SEM best practices and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of ADA Accessibility guidelines and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of CMS platforms (Drupal, Squarespace, WordPress).
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS. PHP/JS a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics.
  • UI/UX design experience.
  • Knowledge of the general development/deployment process.
  • Excellent communication skills; and
  • Ability to understand and implement changes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Web content maintenance experience in higher education.
  • Working knowledge of Pardot.
  • Experience or training related to creating accessible documents using Adobe PDF and Microsoft Word software.

  • The employee may occasionally be required to move files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including from low and high places.
  • The ability to move around within the office and between buildings on campus, attend off-site meetings and events, and travel between Ford Campus site to Taubman Center site are required.
