College Achieve Paterson Charter School is Hiring a High School Math Teacher Near Paterson, NJ

Math HS

Overall Description: Develop students' abilities with mathematics concepts, skill, and application to practical problems in one or more of the following: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics

Salary: Very strong compensation commensurate with experience and past track record, up to $10000 signing bonus additional bonus opportunities based on performance

Certification: New Jersey State Certification as a Mathematics Education Teacher preferred; alternate pathways welcome

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in discipline applicable to teaching assignment

Job Type: Full-time, Contract

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of either Algebra 1 or Geometry; there could also be opportunities for Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including differentiated instruction
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work
  • Ability to communicate effectively in cooperation with students, colleagues, and parents
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth

Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer mathematics curriculum and assessments consistent with school district goals and objectives
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a safe, functional learning atmosphere in the classroom; ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences that challenge all students and best utilize the available time for instruction
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
  • Coordinate with other staff members and participate in faculty meetings and committees
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other network office administrators
