We are hiring for motivated and encouraging DSP’s to support individuals in our residential program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assists staff with admitting individuals into the program;
· Answers the telephone appropriately;
· Assists individuals with ADLs (bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding).
· Leads individuals in educational and recreational activities;
· Report any physical or behavioral signs that are important to the Program Director;
· Cook meals and prepare snacks for individuals (depending on the shift);
· Assist individuals with housekeeping activities, which includes personal care, laundering and ironing of clothes;
· The Direct Support Professional is responsible for the daily supervision and safety of all individuals, including responding to the physical, psychological, medical, spiritual, emotional, and developmental needs of everyone;
· The Direct Support Professional supports and promotes a clean and healthy environment for all individuals.
· Provides written and verbal feedback necessary to plan, develop, implement, and further the advancement of everyone;
· Works closely with designated individuals to guide and support him/her in accomplishing behavioral, personal, vocational, educational, and independent living goals;
· The Direct Support Professional is required to use their vehicle to transport individuals as needed;
· Helps prepare individuals for meals, scheduled groups and activities, counseling session, group dinners, outings etc. on a weekly basis;
· Attendance at monthly staff meetings is mandatory.
Qualifications - Minimum education, experience, knowledge and skills:
High school diploma and at least one (1) year experience working with individuals in a healthcare or school environment.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Skilled at supervising individuals;
Ability to problem solve;
Ability to utilize conflict resolution strategies and other preventive strategies needed to interpret and respond appropriately to continually changing events;
The Direct Support Professional must have the ability to influence, negotiate, instruct and guide individuals in a manner that is beneficial to their success;
Good decision-making and communication skills are necessary;
Good writing and verbal communication skills;
Skilled in using word processing software;
Skilled in implementing treatment plan objectives;
Knowledge of the special needs of individuals with developmental disabilities;
Records management skills
This position requires:
Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid
Person-Centered Thinking Training
Current Medication Administration Certificate
At least one of the following certifications in Behavior Management: (TOVA, MANDT, CPI)
Successful completion of a criminal history and registry background investigation
Driver's License
Current Car Insurance
Acceptable Driving Record
