We are rapidly growing and our team is looking to invest in a MDS Coordinator by providing opportunities to further your career and with the tools and encouragement you need to succeed.

Responsibilities for MDS Coordinator include:

  • Participate in the admission process of prospective residents in terms of their nursing needs and appropriate placement
  • Complete and assure the accuracy of the MDS process for all residents
  • Maintain current working knowledge of Medicare criteria, serving as a resource for nursing staff and communicate changes in regulations
  • Monitor Case Mix Index (CMI) scores, looking for potential risks and/or changes that may affect Medicaid reimbursement
  • Monitor Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and timely submission
  • Assist the resident in completing the care plan portion of the resident’s discharge plan.

Qualifications for MDS Coordinator:

  • Experience in a MDS coordinator role is a must
  • Current and valid NY RN license
  • Experience in a clinical and healthcare setting, preferably a skilled nursing home.
  • Deep medical terminology knowledge
  • Demonstrable knowledge of state and federal regulations
  • Must have solid knowledge and expertise in the MDS OBRA and PDPM process including governmental and state requirements and regulations.
  • Proficiency in MDS 3.0
  • The MDS Coordinator assumes a role to achieve optimal and accurate reimbursement.
  • Assess residents thoroughly according to RAI manual guidelines
  • Must have the basic knowledge of billing, cost containment, PDPM hierarchy and associated rates, consolidated billing and denial/expedited review requirements.
  • Conducting concurrent MDS reviews to assure achievement of maximum allowable PDPM categories
  • Maintaining and transmitting all required data concerning resident’s assessments to the appropriate regulatory agencies as required by regulation.
