Cold Spring Harbor Lab is hiring for an HVAC Apprentice. The HVAC Apprentice will be thoroughly trained in all aspects of HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair with the end goal of Mechanic, HVAC.

• HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) Apprentice with training will install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation and cooling systems in residential homes, commercial buildings and industrial facilities.
• They should have a strong command of both simple and complex mathematical concepts in algebra and geometry. This is useful for understanding blueprints and HVAC installation design.
• Apprentices are given both elementary and complex instructions by their trainer, and they need to be able to carry out the instructions sometimes with very little supervision.

EDUCATION:

• High School, Technical mechanical/ electrical desirable

• 1 -2 years in HVAC/ electrical/ plumbing desirable

• must have excellent communication and listening skills
• ability to understand mechanical/ electrical concepts and principles
• basic computer skills required
