Coeur d'Alene Tribe is Hiring a Receptionist/Clerk Near Plummer, ID

POSITION TITLE: Tribal Court Receptionist/Clerk
DEPARTMENT: Law & Order – Tribal Court
LOCATION: Plummer Idaho, Tribal Court Building
REPORTS TO: Law & Order Administrator, or designee
SALARY: $15 p/hr with benefits
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The Court Receptionist is responsible for greeting all visitors into the Tribal Court facility; handle a multi-lined telephone system and all incoming telephone calls; also responsible for case filing and docketing; provide support for professional staff. Must have strong customer service skills and the ability to defuse tense situations while maintaining a professional demeanor. Must be culturally sensitive to a diverse customer population and able to interact tactfully and positively with Tribal members, all levels of tribal staff and management.
Must show the highest professional standards and promotes a positive image of the Tribe and its administration at all times. Perform other duties as assigned to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
Essential Functions:
Greet all individuals coming to the Tribal Court; provide general information as required; refer as appropriate to court personnel; take messages as necessary
Answer all telephone calls coming into the Tribal Court; transfer calls to appropriate court personnel, take messages as necessary
Receive, log and distribute all mail, complaints and correspondence from outside the Tribal Court, collect and mail (or deliver) all outgoing correspondence
Maintain department inventory, requisitions for supply, equipment, maintenance, and repair
Assist Court clerk and Assistant Clerks as necessary (recording minutes of court proceedings, secure information for judges, contact witnesses, etc.)
Maintain case logs, assign case numbers; maintain court docket and cross reference systems (Alpha Index)
Other Functions:
Provide back-up for Court Clerk and Assistance Clerks when necessary explaining protocol, procedures, or forms to parties involved in cases; collection and receipting of court fines and fees
General Clerical back-up
File all closed files; file information in existing closed files (i.e., satisfied our judgment summaries, receipts, etc.)
Assist with Court Records maintenance and management
Maintain filing system
Administer Oaths
Record case disposition
Minimum Qualifications
Must support the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s: vision, mission, and core values per Coeur d’Alene Tribal Resolution 015(2020).
Must comply with all other Health policies established by the Tribe or department.
No offenses related to dishonesty or theft.
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have two (2) years experience and knowledge of office systems and phone etiquette
Maintain a sober lifestyle
Required to sign confidentiality statement and ability to exercise confidentiality in all court matters.
Communicating or posting information or content on the Internet or using any social media platforms that adversely affects your job performance, the performance of co-workers, or otherwise adversely affects members, customers, or the Tribe and its administration negatively will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination
Must pass a background check before employment –
No felony conviction
No offenses related to dishonesty or theft
No misdemeanor conviction within one year
Demonstrate competence in skills essential to the preparation and maintenance of Court records
Work well with details, accuracy, and proofreading documents
Required to learn Full Court software system within the first six months of hire
Must be dependable and work as a team member
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, with minimum supervision

Total Compensation: $44,179.98-$62,571.86 annually. Total compensation is an estimate based upon base compensation, median retirement fund contributions, and current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates (including medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability, and leave). The actual total will vary depending upon the employee’s enrollment choices.
Tribal Employment Policy

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe reserves the right to hire according to its Indian Preference Policy. Applicants are subject to a pre-employment drug test and at-random testing following employment. Positions with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe are subject to a 6-month orientation period.
