Coen is Hiring a Management Training Program Near Pittsburgh, PA

Job Purpose:

We want you to build a lasting career with Coen starting as an MTP Associate. The MTP role is development focused, crafted to prepare you first as a Coen Store Manager; then, upon further development, to a specialized role at the corporate level. The MTP program is designed to enhance your career as a future leader in the organization. Your developmental journey will begin at the site level. Within six months you will be ready to step in as a Store Manager and run your own Coen location. We will support your development towards a more senior career role as you participate in a self-paced, collaborative training over a two-year time frame. Based on performance, opportunities for future growth include direct paths into Marketing, Merchandising, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, with a potential path towards Executive Management.

We provide hands on learning experiences, as well as Instructor led and computer-based trainings to develop you as a leader. Our team will support your growth towards your leadership career including Leadership, Support Services, and Training & Development. Working alongside this team, you’ll be involved with the tactical operation of a Coen store. This includes customer service, leadership, store management, supervision, and policy implementation, sales and inventory management, employee staffing, training and development, and financial management.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Develop Advanced Store Level Operational Knowledge

  • Work with a store team to deliver a clean, friendly, and in-stock (CFI) experience to every customer, every day, all the time.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment by complying with all health and sanitation procedures to ensure the store and foodservice area is presentable and in-stock.
  • Ensure conditions across the store meet or exceed standards for safety, service, and overall operational efficiency by analyzing opportunities and ensuring execution of established policies, procedures, practices, and programs. Adhere to work designs and implement improvement actions across the store.
  • Manage all safety programs and ensure proper execution and compliance. Report and document all customer and associate incidents in the appropriate time frame. Ensure compliance with all federal and local laws and with all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code policy.

Execute at the Next Level

  • Allocate resources, prioritize, and delegate work, and effectively manage time through efficient scheduling and usage of labor hours.
  • Provide overall direction and support for team and monitor and assess individual work in accordance with high standards of excellence. Provide feedback, coaching, support opportunities for development, complete performance appraisals, take corrective action when appropriate, and participate in hiring decisions.
  • Responsible for leading change initiatives, championing programs and educating associates on the reason and need for change. Deploy marketing and merchandising programs, ensure programs are executed according to design, integrated, and sustained.
  • Ensure a positive shopping experience for all customers. Respond to and resolve customer complaints or inquiries. Solicit customer feedback, input, and information from various sources. Review information and create a plan to consistently meet and exceed the expectations of all customers.

Provide Superior Service to our Guests

  • Ensure that guest expectations are met or exceeds company standards.
  • Address guest issues in a timely manner according to company guidelines.
  • Ensure that store is clean, keeping everyone’s safety in mind; responding quickly and decisively to store emergencies.
  • Notify corporate office and governmental regulatory agencies of crisis situations within the store premises.
  • Foster and develop a learning environment to develop team members for growth.
  • Provide continuous support and coaching of team members. Conduct periodic employee reviews related to safety, sales, service, and performance.
  • Maintains professional communication and demeanor with vendors, team members, and guests.

Perform Financially

  • Maintain awareness of store-level and organizational financial performance trends to help achieve store profitability. Ensure execution of all plans.
  • Analyze results and trends from audits (internal and external) and take the appropriate action to resolve/address issues.
  • Manage inventory to keep shelf offerings full, be aware of waste, communicate consistent vendor stocking issues to the District Manager; proactively recognize trends across the store. Proactively manage cash management procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of local market and current trends to report new opportunities.
  • Implement Loss Prevention measures according to company policy.

Build your Team

  • Responsible for staffing the store appropriately to cover the customer and business demands of business. Proactively identify hiring needs across the store. Share responsibilities for interviewing candidates by following a standard procedure. Consult with District and Store management team to make final hiring decisions.
  • Provide a harmonious work environment that is based on professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
  • Ensures employees follow all Company policies as detailed in the Employee Handbook.
  • Identify qualified candidates, perform interviews as needed, make employment decisions in accordance with policy including, but not limited to hiring, evaluating, scheduling, training, and disciplining as needed.
  • Responsible for labor, time and attendance reporting, compensation related issues, and serves as liaison between Team Members and the Home Office.

Develop your Team

  • Ensure compliance with training programs including monitoring Coen Academy.
  • Learns and demonstrates competence of all functional business components (point of sale systems, kitchen, car wash, back-office systems, etc.)
  • Successfully manage as a Store Manager for 18 plus months.
  • Provide training for new and existing Team Members to appropriately handle customer service needs.
  • Allocate appropriate and adequate resources necessary for effective training execution. Validate that all associates are trained to perform their jobs safely, effectively and to provide great customer service. Conduct all aspects of management training. Oversee and monitor the effective training of all associates to ensure proficiency of skills.
  • Successfully complete all requirements of the management training program
  • All other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Honorable Military Veteran status required.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Possess good analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Able to interact with team members with strong professional integrity and adaptability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Must commit to master entire store operation to include all food service.
  • Ability to learn and utilize the store’s computer applications required.
  • Strong understanding of the financial aspects of the retail business.
  • Exceptional customer service, superior relationship building, and strong leadership skills required.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks for team members.
  • Experience, skills, and abilities consistent with Guiding Principles.
  • Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Availability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
  • Ability to respond 24x7x365 to store related emergencies.
  • Must be willing to work at other locations as necessary.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment testing, including background check, and drug screen.

Pay starting at $60,000 plus bonus potential
