What You'll Do:

  • Lead engaging and interactive coding classes in-person at local schools, primarily during after-school hours in the spring session and camps style during the summer.
  • Classes are located in the Southeast Portland, Lake Oswego (Southwest Portland), and Beaverton areas, ensuring easy commutes for instructors.
  • Utilize our comprehensive curriculum (flexible for customization) to teach a variety of coding languages, from Scratch to Python or Java.
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment for students, igniting their passion for technology.
  • Foster strong relationships with fellow instructors and students, building a vibrant community of learners.

  • Were you referred by a current or former employee at Coding with Kids? If so, which employee?
  • We run a background check on all candidates. If you come onboard as an instructor at Coding with Kids do you have a clean criminal record history? If not, please provide more information about the specifics of your situation so it can be considered with your application.
  • Are you interested in teaching in person, online, or both?
  • If you are teaching in person, do you have a personal vehicle such as a car to get to your classes? If yes, does it have enough space in the back seat or trunk to transport a set of laptops and a projector for class which will be provided by us?
  • If you are interested in teaching in person, are you open to traveling to school placements within a 30 minute drive radius of your home? If not, please provide the distance you are willing to travel to a school placement.
  • We have immediate positions available for the spring in person after-school class season and also for our in person summer camps program. Would you like to be considered for one or both of these opportunities?
  • If you're interested in teaching during our upcoming Spring semester, which days are you available to work in person between 2 PM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday?
  • We're currently offering summer teaching positions at our in-person camps starting in May and June. If you're interested, please indicate which camp schedule you're available for. Please note that you need to be available for all 5 days (Monday to Friday) for the same time each day to work the camp schedule.

Morning Shift: Usually starts at 8 or 9 AM locally, lasts for 3-4 hours.
Afternoon Shift: Typically starts at 11 AM - 1 PM locally, also lasts for 3-4 hours.
All-Day Camps: Runs for 8 hours

  • This is a part time position; how many hours a week are you hoping to work with us per week knowing that on average instructors work between 5 - 15 hours?
  • What coding languages do you know that you would be comfortable using in the classroom? Do you know how to teach or use Scratch, Minecraft modding, Roblox development, or Robotics programming skills? (These are optional skills that are not required for employment.)
  • Our limit for in person instruction is that we can have up to 16 students in a classroom. Are you comfortable working with that amount of students or do you need to work with smaller class sizes or private classes?
  • We offer elementary, middle, and high school instruction; are you open to working with any age group?
  • Do you have any experience in K-12 education that you would like for us to be aware of? If you do not have experience in education, do you have any experience working with or volunteering with children that you would like for us to be aware of?
