Coconino County is Hiring a Coconino County Fair Temporary Staff- Parks and Recreation (0524) Near Flagstaff, AZ


PARKS AND RECREATION: COCONINO COUNTY FAIR EVENT STAFF
Coconino County Fair Event Staff are needed for the operations of this longstanding regional event. These temporary positions do not include benefits. 
Terms of Employment:
• Dates of Employment: Labor Day weekend, Friday August 30th thru Monday September 2, 2024 
• Both AM and PM shifts are available. 
• Wages range from $17.40-$18.50 per hour depending on position. 
• Once selected, Event Staff must attend paid training.
Please Note: There are approximately 50 positions to be filled. These positions are open until filled. 

The following positions are available:

Admissions Cashier/FloaterProcess admissions transactions (cash or credit card), utilizing a computerized system. Cash handling, computer, and excellent customer service skills are required. Work takes place sitting in an enclosed booth for long periods of time.

Admissions Money Runner: Makes change for as many as 8 cashiers. Must have strong communication skills and money handling experience. Is responsible for money drops to and from the ticket booths. Money drops are always done in pairs or with security. Work is mainly on their feet.

Admissions SupervisorTroubleshoot issues at the ticket booths, including system errors (both hardware and software) and keep admissions flowing smoothly. Computer and customer service and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to problem solve. 

Entertainment CoordinatorCoordinates unloading/loading with entertainment acts, stocks food and beverages, pays artists, makes various announcements, and keeps stages (2) on schedule. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stay on feet for majority of shift, and solve problems.

Front Desk Support: Answer phone calls and questions in the Parks and Recreation Office. Customer services and cash handling skills required. Work is primarily seated in an office.

Ice Crew: This position delivers ice to the food vendors, entertainment, and sponsors. The Parks and Recreation Department supplies the ice from a large ice truck while vendors, entertainment, and sponsors trade tickets for ice. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Desirable skills include good customer service, organization skills, and walking or standing for an extended period.

Information Booth: Answers questions from the general public. Offer assistance and provide excellent customer service. Work is outside under a tent and requires sitting or staying on feet.

Mascot: Wears Coco the Cow mascot costume during select Fair hours. Interacts with attendees, especially kids, giving high-fives and waves. Must be able to be on feet for long periods of time in an outdoor setting and have a positive demeanor.

Mascot Handler: Assists the Fair’s mascot, Coco the Cow, move about the fairgrounds. Position requires the mascot handler interact with the public. Candidates must be willing to dress in themed attire (provided by the candidate) and willing to engage the public in a fun and friendly manner. Candidate may also be responsible for making announcements using the fairgrounds loudspeaker system. Work takes place in an outdoor setting and must be able to be on feet for long periods of time.

Money Room Assistant: Under the supervision of Coconino County Parks and Recreation Staff, assists in the counting of monies received throughout the Fair. Must have previous cash handling experience and strong organization skills. Work is primarily seated in an office.

Ticket ScannersCheck and scan admission tickets at the front gate. Desirable skills include good customer service and ability to work with electronic barcode scanners. Barcode scanner training will be provided. Work takes place in an outdoor setting and requires standing for long periods of time.

Parking Attendant: 
Directs traffic once cars are inside park, communicates with other parking attendants for parking logistics; vision, hearing, and excellent customer service skills are required. Works mainly on their feet in an outdoor setting.

Parking Cashier: Process parking transactions (cash or credit card), utilizing a computerized system. Cash handling, computer, and excellent customer service skills are required. Works mainly on their feet in an outdoor setting.

Parking Supervisor: Troubleshoot issues at the parking lots, including system errors (both hardware and software) and keep parking flowing smoothly. Computer and customer service and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to problem solve.


Recycling Attendant:
Performs a variety of tasks in support of County Sustainability and the Coconino County Fair Recycling Pilot Program including staffing recycling bins and pulling out contaminants; making sure aluminum cans and plastic bottles are empty of liquids; looking for and pulling out recyclables from trash cans; educating Fair attendees about what is and what is not recyclable at the Fair; emptying recycling bins and taking the recyclables to the main recycling roll off; picking up cardboard from vendors and taking it to the main recycling roll off.Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:The offer of employment is subject to the verification of eligibility for employment as required by Arizona and federal law, therefore applicant must provide unexpired identification documentation to successfully complete I-9 Identity Documentation. Mascot, Mascot Handler, and Cash Handling positions are contingent on a background check.
