Under general supervision performs professional work of moderate difficulty in training activities and plans, client assessment, mentoring, counseling; performs related work as assigned.

Typical Duties

  • Conducts interviews and assessments to determine participant training needs, job readiness, and suitability and makes referrals as necessary
  • Provides training in job skills, job search methods, and plans job training programs
  • Teaches and/or trains participants in an individual or group setting
  • Provides comprehensive case management, career counseling, and direction to participants
  • Serves as advocate for cooperative case management with agencies involved in training or workforce-related community outreach programs
  • Prepares and maintains physical and electronic file records and reports, and documents participant progress
  • Makes recommendations for expenditures of funds and procures approved expenditures
  • Assists employers and training partners in identifying needs
  • Implements programs and services to address identified needs
  • Assists in grant writing and development
  • Represents the Career Center at a variety of meetings and sessions, prepares and provides presentations regarding initiatives, projects, development sites, and related activities
  • Assists with the planning and development of marketing materials
  • Provide itinerant services in remote locations
  • Other duties as assigned
Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to driving; working with and around other staff and clients; hearing and speech (ordinary conversation) to communicate with staff and clients; and touch (finger dexterity) computer work/data entry.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of relevant experience; OR

Associate's degree in related field and two years of relevant experience; OR

Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

The ideal candidate will be able to conduct and manage employer outreach activities designed to connect employers with job seekers for employment opportunities, and conduct and manage community outreach events, develop presentations, and attend meetings as assigned. Based on experience, this individual may be requested to manage the work-based learning program and serve as the liaison between Career Services and the Coconino County Workforce Board Business Services Staff. Experience in developing programs and managing successful outcomes.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eligible to obtain Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card and maintain it throughout employment, persons convicted of a felony are not eligible to be employed as childcare workers in the State of Arizona. Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

Some positions may include high school curriculum teaching/instruction duties. Candidates seeking assignments which include high school curriculum teaching/instruction are required to possess an Arizona Standard Teaching Certificate –Secondary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with working with employers. Experience with creating presentations and outreach materials. Experience with public speaking. Experience with case management.
Experience with the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). Knowledge of community resources in Coconino County. Knowledge of Coconino County communities and its diverse cultures. Knowledge or skills in transformational leadership.

This position is safety sensitive.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.
