PART-TIME VICTIM COMPENSATION COORDINATOR - BISBEE
HOURS: 20/week
CLASSIFIED: Position is subject to the provisions of the Merit System Rules pursuant to Arizona Law
OPENS: Wednesday, May 1, 2024
CLOSES: Position is open until filled with applications reviewed upon receipt, and may close at any time.
RATE OF PAY: $16.30 to $17.85 per hour, dependent upon qualifications, plus a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.
PLEASE NOTE: All positions at Cochise County require a pre-employment background screening.
PLEASE NOTE: Position is grant funded with employment contingent upon continued grant funding. 
Under direct supervision, performs tasks of moderate difficulty in preparation and documentation of victim claims, bookkeeping, data entry, and quality control; performs related work as assigned.
Essential Functions:  As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.  (Illustrative Only) Posts and reconciles general ledgers; reviews documents, computations and data entry for completeness and accuracy; codes and classifies information from source documents; prepares basic financial reports; maintains accounts receivable and payable; responds to requests for information; compiles statistical data; interacts with victims and their families both over the phone and in-person, to process victim compensation claims; negotiates rates with behavioral health providers; schedules and oversees Cochise County Victim Compensation Board meetings.High School diploma or equivalent; six (6) hours of higher education course work in accounting, data processing, and / or office procedures, or related subjects plus three (3) years of work experience in accounting or closely related field; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to be covered by county insurance. 
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.Working knowledge of:
- balancing cash and reports;
- bookkeeping principles, practices and methods; 
- automated accounting systems;
- office practices and procedures; 
- laws, ordinances, and regulations governing public sector finance;
- data entry, verification procedures, and proper coding of documents;
- automated accounting systems;
- department procedures and requirements.
Ability to:
- research and verify information;
- make complicated mathematical computations with accuracy and rapidity;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies,
and the public;
- read, write and speak English;
- follow written and verbal instruction; 
- communicate effectively verbally and in writing; 
- handle situations involving victims in crisis.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is primarily performed under direct supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. travel within the County may be required; may require working early morning or evenings hours.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important.
