Cobb County Fire and Emergency services is actively seeking an experienced Fire Educator Technician for planning, preparing, and presenting programs of instruction intended to educate and inform the public regarding fire and life safety issues. This position is located at the Cobb County Safety Village.Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services is one of the few county fire departments that has an ISO 1 rating as well as holding the designation as Internationally Accredited through Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) and Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). There are approximately 29,700 fire departments in the United States. Of these fire departments only 106 departments have an ISO 1 rating. Additionally there are only 290 agencies accredited by CPSE/CFAI in the United States. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Functions in an entry-level capacity through on-the-job training and participation in in-house and related training to learn and master the essential function of fire and life safety education.Effectively deliver fire and life safety information to various audiences including but not limited to community members, school groups, and department personnel.Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, organizations, and local agencies to promote fire safety and public education initiatives.Ensure that educational materials, training modules, and other resources are up-to-date, accurate, and align with the department’s objectives.Maintain accurate records and generate reports pertaining to educational outreach, training sessions, recruitment activities, or public information dissemination as applicable.Work closely with other departments and team members to achieve common goals, share insights, and optimize resources.Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, tailored to a wide range of audiences.Adhere to departmental policies, guidelines, and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the area of assignment.Stay informed about the latest best practices, technologies, and methodologies in fire safety education, recruitment, or public information dissemination.Develop and maintain educational programs for children and adults on fire and life safety topics. Create engaging, age-appropriate activities and lessons focusing on fire safety and prevention. Collaborate with local schools and organizations to facilitate visits to the Safety Village. Ensure all teaching materials and safety equipment at the Safety Village are operational and up-to-date. Track and report on attendance, program efficacy, and community engagement.Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED required; supplemented by three years of experience providing fire safety or similar instruction or three years of experience in fire prevention, suppression, or emergency medical activities; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Tasks require the regular and sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).Sensory RequirementsSome tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals.
