Job Description

At CoBank, our Capital Markets Specialist II provides knowledge, support and servicing of syndicated and sold loans. The role requires a self-motivated, highly organized individual who has the ability to re-prioritize workload in a fast pace environment. Responsible for coordinating the interrelationship between Capital Markets and Operations in documenting and facilitating successful closings. Leads the process for post-closing activity which includes managing amendments, consents, and waivers and for the dissemination of borrower reports and other required information to syndicate members and farm credit institutions purchasing participations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares Participation Certificates for sales to Farm Credit institutions and Assignment Agreements for sales to syndicate banks. Coordinates the execution of these documents and delivery to Operations. Coordinates the closing date of the sales with Operations.
  • Disseminates financial statements as required by the credit agreement to participants. Follows up on related participant questions.
  • Assists the Capital Markets Officers in the syndication process by collecting, Administrative Details forms, providing closing notification and fully executed credit agreements to the bank group.
  • Processes amendments, waivers, and consents. Responsible for assessing the bank group’s voting rights for this activity and managing the approval process when applicable.
  • Assists in processing secondary trades. Facilitates timely settlement and execution of trades by collaborating with Operations and the appropriate counter-party. Responsible for reviewing and verifying trade documentation for accuracy.
  • Assists with redacting annual reviews for Farm Credit investors.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in operational and administrative aspects of complex corporate, syndicated, and participated credits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of loan documentation, credit practices, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret credit reports and loan agreements in order to discern relevant facts.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to solve problems and identify when to escalate issues.
  • Proven ability to produce work that is timely, accurate and thorough.
  • Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to effectively utilize written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, and interact with and engage others appropriately at all levels in the organization.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deliver on commitments within tight timeframes and competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other relevant business applications.

Compensation Information

  • Estimated Base Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
  • Target short-term incentive opportunity: 9%
