Job Title: Demand Planner

Reports To: Planning Manager

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Demand Planner to join our team. Reporting to the Demand Planning Manager, the Demand Planner will be responsible for analyzing, predicting, and planning future sales patterns and trends. They will also be responsible for creating and maintaining forecast models for our customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, and other sources. Using critical thinking, this role will apply analytical techniques to project future sales using tools such as statistical modeling, customer and sales inputs, consumer and retail market trends, as well as other commercial and financial demand drivers. They will assist in driving cross functional collaboration, both internally and externally, and support overall business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain demand forecasting models based on historical data, market trends, sales inputs, and other relevant factors. Collaborate with internal and external customers (Sales, Marketing, Warehouse, Operations, Product Development, Buying) to merge statistical forecasts, POS (point of sales) forecasts, and other manual inputs into a final consensus to build weekly/monthly plan.

  • Monitor to ensure inventory levels are met to mutually benefit both Coastal Pet Products and our Customers. Identify potential stock-outs or excess material, areas for improvement, and propose corrective actions.

  • Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and KPIs to key stakeholders, including management.

  • Lead, suggest, and engage in root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and other initiatives to enhance demand planning proficiency for the delivery of business value.

  • Accountable for maintaining the MPS/MRP procedures to ensure product procurement aligns with the plan.

  • Drives end to end project management in collaboration with internal teams and external customers.

  • Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly forecast reviews and maintenance by customer in preparation for monthly S&OP reviews.

  • Address demand-related issues in a timely and effective manner.

  • Focus on demand planning accuracy objectives by focusing on continuous improvement.

  • Assist in the development of processes, procedures, and training material as required.

Qualifications:

  • Skills and knowledge required for this position would generally be acquired with a four-year college degree with emphasis on Supply Chain and strong analytical skills. Practical experience would consist of a minimum of two years in these related fields. In lieu of degree, four years of experience in supply chain or related field. APICS certification is considered in lieu of degree or experience.

  • Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures, as well as a strong understanding of MRP (NetSuite preferred)

  • Must be familiar with forecasting software systems such as Avercast or similar.

  • Capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while being able to effectively cross functional partners.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively within a team and across departments.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically in Advanced Microsoft Excel including Pivot tables, and V or X-Loop ups.
