Clinical Cooperative Education Opportunity: Emergency Medical Services
Duration and Commitment: 36 hours per week 6 months. Co-op available for Jan start
Who should apply: Those interested in any aspect of healthcare or public service. This co-op will expose students to emergency medicine, response/public health, specialties, healthcare administration, healthcare finance, patient transportation, emergency management, communications, and training and education.

We know you will be well educated but being well trained in the healthcare industry can be challenging. Prepare yourself to enter the ranks of talented individuals who can apply knowledge and skill to launch their careers. Our co-op will assist you in developing critical thinking ability, global health awareness, and will facilitate your required patient contact hours for physician assistant, nursing, or medical school applications.
Phase 1 (Month 1): Company sponsored Basic EMT course. Simulation training and EMS immersion program including continuing education culminates with state of Massachusetts practical exam and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification exam. Successful completion of these examinations will enable students to become certified EMT's in the state of Massachusetts.
Phase 2 (Week 5-7): Company orientation and field training.
Phase 3 (20 Weeks): Work at least 36 hours per week as an EMT. Attend Leadership series including management and leadership in healthcare, healthcare administration, healthcare education, simulation and training seminar, the business of healthcare, business development, healthcare finance, human resources, recruitment and retention, engagement, Community EMS, global health crisis, tactical EMS and emergency management.
Compensation Package:
Phase 1- Company sponsored EMT program with all materials and continuing education.
Phase 2 & 3 - Interns must work at least 36 hours per week and attend Leadership Series lecture. In this cooperative experience students become clinicians, provide patient care, patient assessments, and initiate treatment plans. As a member of the EMS community students will have unparalleled access to participate as depended upon members of the health care system interacting with physicians, nurses, public safety personal, and many other disciplines.
