Coastal Health iscurrently searching for a motivated, career-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing organization.May be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.

Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; preparing patients for x-rays; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changing dressings.
Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering questions.
Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Performs front and back office tasks
Job Specifications (Education/Licensure/Certifications):High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting.Current documentation of medical assistant certification preferred,but not required. Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
Job Experience:Minimum three years experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant. Experience withAthena preferred.
KSA Requirements:Must have currentexperience with: electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and intramuscular injections. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask both front and back office medical assistantduties in a fast pacedprimary care setting.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting. Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department; e.g., pediatric medical assistant exam.
Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented evidence of completed Medical Assistant externship. Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.
Other Requirements: Current documentation of medical assistant certification. Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
