Coastal Family Partners is Hiring a Family Advocate Near Mobile, AL

***The continuation of this role is based upon ongoing funding from Coastal Family Partners' grant sources.***

The Home Visiting Family Advocate supports and encourages families enrolled in Coastal Family Partners’ (CFP) Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program. This individual enlists parental involvement throughout a 30-week educational program; works with parents to assess their families' needs; provides referrals to enhance family well-being; and regularly inputs family progress within a computer database. The Family Advocate also facilitates positive relationships with parents, coworkers, and other key stakeholders.

The HIPPY Family Advocate reports to the HIPPY Team Leader for daily tasks.

Essential Functions

  • Abides by home visiting (i.e., HIPPY Model) standards for the purposes of ensuring compliance with program regulations.
  • Takes initiative to review program materials to become knowledgeable of program requirements and components.
  • Assists parents in a variety of areas for the purpose of understanding program progress and clearly explaining assessment outcomes.
  • Helps parents complete enrollment paperwork and files accordingly.
  • Maintains accurate paper and/or digital program documentation, including assessment records, family files, and parent participation/attendance.
  • Participates in required weekly role plays of lesson plans.
  • Conducts required weekly home visits with parents on caseload.
  • Encourages parents to role play materials and provides guidance to enhance the process.
  • Actively listens to parents' concerns and takes the initiative to provide referrals to support services.
  • Responsible for maintaining an organized work environment and meeting all program deadlines.
  • Jointly responsible for recruiting a caseload of families who reside in Mobile County.
  • Uses computer technology, office equipment, and digital software in the daily facilitation of work duties. May include inputting information into database, making copies, creating documents/flyers, reviewing and compiling spreadsheets, etc.

*Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS –positive interpersonal skills, willingness to learn new procedures, ability to communicate the program to parents, community members, and coworkers. Must be comfortable with using basic office equipment, including a computer and basic software applications such as Microsoft Office.

KNOWLEDGE -fluency in the English language, ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

TRAVEL Travel up to 25%. Must be insurable by the agency's insurance provider for driving during business hours.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma, GED or its equivalency
  • Must have at least 2 years' professional experience working with children and families
  • Additional on-the-job training provided.

Clearances- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance/Motor Vehicle Report clearance as driving is an essential job function/CA/N

Physical and Background Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to pass program’s background check clearances.
  • Must be able to pass drug test.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and insurable through the employer’s non-owners liability insurance for employees who drive during work hours.
