POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Human Resources Specialist

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Position Reports To:President and CEO

Positions Supervised:N/A

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for a variety of tasks related to Human Resources functions along with reporting and internal processes

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1. Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional performance of Human Resources functions:

a. Process employee timecards including vacations, PTO, and Flextime

b. Respond in a timely manner to process employee queries

c. Administer Annual Open Enrollment

d. Familiarity with full cycle recruiting

e. Prepare and monitor HR budget

f. Develop and implement HR policies throughout the organization

g. Stay up-to-date and comply with changes in labor legislation

h. Administer exit reviews

2. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with all levels of employment

a. Prepare and review compensation and benefits packages

b. Administer health and life insurance programs

c. Implement training and development plans

d. Inform employees about additional benefits they are eligible for (EX: extra vacation days

3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with area personnel and management

a. Plan probationary and annual performance review sessions

b. Maintain organizational charts and detailed job descriptions along with salary records

c. Forecast hiring needs and ensure recruitment process runs smoothly

d. Update employee records with new hire information and/or changes in employee status

e. Onboarding new employees

f. Set up security and alarm codes for employees

4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

a. Organize outreach events within branch communities

b. Investigate employee and/or member complaints and take disciplinary action when warranted

c. Set up company HR policies and procedures that coincide with NCUA HR policies

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

1. Human Resources functions are efficiently, effectively, and accurately performed in accordance with established policies, standards, and security procedures.

2. Good business relations exist with managers and staff. Problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved for all levels of employment.

3. Good working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and management. Supervisors are appropriately informed of area activities that affect employees.

4. Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely.

5. The Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent

Required Knowledge:

§ Good understanding of Human Resources functions

§ Proven work experience as a Human Resources Specialist or Human Resources Generalist

§ Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems

§ Solid understanding of labor legislation and payroll process

§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

§ Good problem-solving abilities

§ Team management skills

§ BSc/MSc in Human Resources or relevant field a plus

Experience Required:Two ofyears related experience, preferably in a credit union

Skills/Abilities:Excellent communication and public relations skills

Professional appearance and attitude.

Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Talking:Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing:Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Finger Dexterity:Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.

Repetitive Motion:Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Average Visual Abilities:Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.

Physical Strength:Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

None: No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.

Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform basic math skills and to use decimals to compute ratios and percents, and to draw and interpret graphs.

Language Ability: Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5-6,000 words; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation;

Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and use adjectives and adverbs; and

Ability to communicate in complex sentences; using normal word order with present and past tenses; using a good vocabulary.
