Summary

Chemical Blending Operators are responsible for operating batch chemical blending processes to manufacture chemical products and handling chemical materials in a safe and efficient manner. Chemical handling activities include loading/unloading trucks and railcars, transferring chemicals to/from totes/drums and packaging products in totes/drums. This role is a member of the production department and reports directly to the Production Supervisor/Manager.

Essential Duties

• Perform routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of materials.
• Lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment including the proper clearing and isolation of equipment.
• Report any safety issues immediately to supervisor and take appropriate action as needed, including system shutdown, to prevent injury or environmental release.
• Control, monitor and make necessary adjustments on control systems and manually operate equipment.
• Troubleshoot process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems and identify equipment requiring maintenance.
• Ensure safe and efficient performance of production and project work following standard operating procedures and work instructions.
• Act as a resource for other operators and/or maintenance employees on job tasks and prioritization of work activities.
• Ensure quality control by performing testing on products and sampling when required.
• Take ownership for the accurate completion of all assigned tasks.
• Complete all batch records, process reports and documents associated with job tasks accurately and completely during shift operations.
• Communicate status of in-process operations to supervisors and colleagues in a clear and concise manner to ensure efficient and safe plant operations.
• Ensure security procedures are followed to maintain the security of the companys plant and equipment.
• Complete all duties as assigned with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
