COAHOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE is Hiring a Chief Communications Officer Near Clarksdale, MS

Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Communications Officer will develop and lead the implementation of CCC's institution-wide marketing and communications program and enhances its visibility and brand reputation. This person also works closely with the Director of Research, Assessment, and Strategic Initiatives, Alumni Relations, Sports Information Director and other administrators, teaching faculty and students to develop the best approaches to sharing the College's messages and communicating its mission. 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with senior leadership, plan and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy that will advance the image and visibility of Coahoma to internal and external audiences. This includes creating a clear story for the College with a related branding strategy, developing digital and print materials to convey this brand, and harnessing multiple channels to deliver key messages broadly (web, media relations, social media, direct mail and e-mail, etc.).
  • Work toward implementing a campus-wide identity system that reinforces a consistent visual identity when communicating with all of Coahoma's external constituencies across all media. Maintain quality control and graphic standards. 
  • Coordinate the production of Coahoma’s messaging, publications and projects with outside consulting and design firms as needed. Assist with copy and photography needs, editing, proofreading, approval processes on campus, and printing arrangements as needed. These include marketing literature, institutional advancement publications, events and athletics publications, and presentations in special media. 
  • Within a consultative process, develop short- and long-range plans for Coahoma’s public Web site.
  • Incorporate community feedback about content, approach, and graphic design of the site. Evaluate the site's impact on student recruitment and strategize enhancements.
  • Develop ongoing strategies for visibility. Identify mission-based messages and assist in developing attractive story ideas for the website and media. Inform and influence the Coahoma community toward increased comfort with a promotional culture. 
  • Provide advice and assistance during institutional emergencies and crises. 
  • Suggest proactive strategies that share Coahoma’s message effectively. Oversee the management of media contacts and help coordinate contacts with off-campus counsel and consultants. 
  • Develop graphic standards that improve the physical beauty of the campus and build positive impressions with visitors. Direct or assist with selected projects involving environmental graphics, campus signs, banners, the remodeling of public areas, plaques, kiosks, and other recognition items. 
  • Assist in implementing strategies to engage Coahoma more effectively with its five-county community (Bolivar, Coahoma, Tallahatchie, Tunica, and Quitman). Implement and sustain community-based advertising that assists in positioning Coahoma among community leaders, demonstrating the College's impact and building opportunities for partnerships. 
  • Manage Public Relations, Sports Information, Switchboard, and Web Services Departments and provide general guidance and support to these areas when needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Five (5) plus years of experience supervising and managing a public relations team. Experience in securing sustained local and national earned media coverage. Experience managing paid social media campaigns, formulating multi-platform strategies, and developing social media content calendars. Influential leadership and team-building capabilities. Creative thinking with an affinity for innovation and problem-solving. Exemplary oral and especially written communication skills. Experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with media. Ability to use web and marketing analytics and data to drive strategy.
