The stated pay range is based on the Carmel, IN location of this role. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location.

CNO Financial Group is hiring a Payroll Analyst to Administer end to end payroll process and compliance for exempt and non-exempt employee populations, to include tuition reimbursement, taxable fringe benefit coordination, and payroll-related integration for internal/external sources. Review payroll reporting and ensure accurate and timely filing with appropriate government authorities. Support external financial audits, and assist with payroll related audits, such as 401(k), worker’s compensation, ESD, SOX internal controls, etc.

As a Payroll Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Under moderate technical direction, participate in day to day payroll operations
  • Work with internal partners to facilitate payroll processes, including garnishment administration, severance, bonus administration, benefits and withholdings (e.g. leave of absence, employee benefits, 401k, FSA, etc.)
  • Work with payroll team members to document and implement payroll processes, policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls, efficiency and a great employee experience.
  • Assist with payroll system and tools implementation and improvement projects, including helping set ups, reports and testing.
  • Work with cross-functional departments to implement payroll process improvements and best practices, to drive excellence and eliminate errors.
  • Participate in Workday testing and other payroll related projects

The Payroll Analyst position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of time and attendance and non-exempt pay requirements.
  • Are familiar with payroll processes and best practices, and payroll-related state, legal, tax, and compliance requirements.
  • Show good analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Can maintain complete discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Exhibit a proactive, high energy attitude geared towards achieving continuous improvement.
  • Thrive in a deadline driven, highly regulated environment

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field OR 8 years of relevant work experience as an equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of end-to-end payroll processing for companies with 500 employees
  • At least 1 year previous experience with Workday Payroll.
  • Working knowledge of US payroll laws and taxes
  • Good understanding on basic accounting principles; knowledge and experience with journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Current location within a 2-hour drive of Carmel, IN.

What will set you apart:

  • CPP designation is a plus
  • Strong Excel skills (ie pivot tables and lookups) highly preferred.

CNO embraces flexibility and encourages you to work where you’re most productive. This role is affiliated to the Carmel, IN corporate office, and candidates for this role need to reside within a 2-hour drive of that corporate office in order to participate in a rotation of coming into the Carmel, IN to retrieve and process payroll-specific mail and other duties that cannot be performed remotely. All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
