Vice President of Insurance and Risk Management

Compensation: $200,000 - $275,000 a year

The Vice President of Insurance and Risk Management is accountable for achieving strategic objectives, ensuring effective hazard (typically insurable risks) risk management for the organization and supervising, leading and/or directing key risk stakeholders. The Vice President of Insurance and Risk Management typically owns the process of identifying, measuring, and managing insurable or hazard risks, developing reports and plans, and analyzing risk/insurance problems and defining and/or overseeing the implementation of the risk solutions that help optimize operations. Vice President of Insurance and Risk Management’s responsibilities include overseeing the negotiation, procurement, and maintenance of all non-benefit insurance policies.

Job Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in risk management (e.g., ARM, CPCU) is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management, with a focus on liability and workers compensation.
  • Proven track record of managing and reducing liability and workers compensation claims.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge of liability and workers compensation laws and regulations.
  • Understanding of risk management principles and best practices.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel as needed to various company locations.
  • Flexibility to respond to emergencies and incidents outside of regular working hours.

Working Conditions:

  • This position typically works in an office environment but may require visits to other company locations, including industrial sites and field operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee all aspects of the insurance program and the various lines of insurance; including handling claims in collaboration with the Director of Litigation and Risk and key stakeholders, the renewal of policies, and aiding in the management of key insurer/broker relationships. Evaluate and oversee insurance coverage to include, but not limited to, making recommendations of coverage and retentions, negotiate placement of policies, ensure appropriate policies are in effect.
  • Ensure proper and accurate data collection, determination of replacement costs, applications and such other documents that may be needed for insurance placement.
  • Provide guidance to the executive management team as the knowledge expert on insurance related matters.
  • Manage insurance procurement, develop, design and implement risk management and compliance policies and procedures in collaboration with the Director of Litigation and Risk and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with third party insurance providers including, but not limited to, brokers, underwriters, and other third-party administrators.
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations regarding the selection of insurance policies, including, but not limited to, Property, General Liability, Professional liability, Workers’ Compensation, Professional E&O, Directors, and Officers, EPLI, Fiduciary, Cyber, Auto, and any other required policies in place now or in the future.
  • Coordinate the development of insurance submissions, including the gathering of insurance policy renewal data from various departments.
  • Coordinate incident, claims and loss reporting in collaboration with the Director of Litigation and Risk.
  • Perform risk management and insurance related due diligence in connection with acquisitions, and divestments
