JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: Pediatric Nurse Practioner DEPARTMENT: Century-Airport PediatricsREPORTS TO: Office ManagerFLSA STATUS: HourlyAPPROVAL DATE: 8/7/15SUMMARYThe role of the primary care pediatric nurse practitioner is to provide care to children from birth to 19 years of age with an in-depth knowledge and experience in pediatric primary healthcare including well childcare and prevention/management of common pediatric acute illnesses and chronic conditions. This care is provided to support optional health of children within the context of their family, community, and environmental setting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides health maintenance care, including well-child exams.
• Manages routine developmental screenings
• Provides Diagnosis and treatments for common childhood illnesses
• Teaches and counsels children and their families on issues related to health
• Performs selected administrative duties and assists physicians as part of the clinical team
• Provides accurate and prompt documentation for all patients
• Maintains information of patient handouts and assists with office newsletter as appropriate
• Contributes to the development of policies and procedures
• Provides courteous and professional service to patients and their families
• Responsibilities for quality improvement initiatives
• Performs other related work as required

Experience:

CPR certification required. Knowledge of medical equipment, common safety hazards and precautions, procedures required. Knowledge of computers and E.H.R required. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, work well with children of all ages and excellent communication skills required.
